Here’s a few ideas that you could implement before the end of the year that will improve the quality of your output and/or the awareness of your services in market. - Empower your senior team with leadership training based on their personal career goals - DISC profiling and ways of working sessions with an external partner - Improve and streamline process with a part time ops manager - Build a content strategy and library showcasing recent work - Have an offsite day to realign and update values - Use your updated values to showcase your EVP and purpose - Build a referral program for your clients and partners - Host events for your target audience - Put together a grad program & hire the best interns There’s heaps of things you could do outside of the traditional BD methods that can get the vibes pumping and client wins flowing!

I’ve noticed leaders making career decisions based on what they’re good at, what they are known for instead of what they REALLY WANT to do. If you believe being good at something is being passionate about the subject, practicing new skills, applying learnings and honing your craft repeatedly, what you really want to do can eventually be a NEW thing you’re good at. It’s okay to do something else different than what you’re good at.

I had a chance to reflect on a few extraordinary highlights from our team at The Career Leadership Collective that happened in 2023: 1++Kickstart for new career professionals was wildly popular and successful, training 75 new professionals over 2 cohorts, equipping the future of our field, and saving career teams scads of time preparing new staff.  2++We now have 150 Mastermind Alumni! It continues to be a transformative leadership development experience for Career Directors.  3++Our ground-breaking research product, the National Alumni Career Mobility (NACM) survey, and EMBARK, our FDS survey service, were acquired by Lightcast, yielding an ongoing partnership between our two organizations to fuel the career data landscape in higher education.  4++We assisted on more executive searches for career services leaders than any other year in our history, while also seeing our largest and most diverse pools of candidates. 5++Our team was everywhere - coast to coast - as we continued to provide our core transformation services of consulting, training, and executive search, assisting with capacity building for career ecosystems at all types of higher education institutions.  6++Our partners at Career Launch surpassed 500 certified Career Launch Readiness Coaches. So glad we partnered with them 3 years ago.  7++Lucky 7! Some people thrive in their roles and consistently achieve results without actively seeking promotions or recognition, especially when they are confident in their skills and impact. They will seamlessly transition to a new position or job to showcase their value and skills. Not everyone is striving for advancement in the corporate world; what they really want is acknowledgment, opportunities for growth, fresh challenges, equal and impartial treatment, the freedom to voice their opinions, and respect. Some people see promotions as chances for advancement, but there is a pattern where individuals are seeking promotions that may not match their skills or experience. Some employees were promoted, only to be later dismissed to give the appearance of progress within the department. Some promotions may be influenced by personal reasons, while others are just a normal part of the business operations. What's crucial is advancing in your career, being willing to take chances, and recognizing that your career development is impacted by your supervisor, your position as an employee, and your overall impact within the organization.

Make the most of Q4. The last quarter of the year is the most active in most companies and businesses, and it's also where most careers are made or broken. Why? 1️⃣ This is the time of the year when you will be exposed to Senior Management.  2️⃣ Most of the key reviews and processes that have a disproportionate amount of attention from the highest executives in your business take place in Q4.  3️⃣ This is where you close your deliverables and lead your team to (and through) the finish line. Role rotation and its advantages In the dynamic world of corporate careers, role rotation has emerged as a key strategy for individuals aspiring to climb the corporate ladder. This approach involves employees switching between different job functions or departments within a company. • It allows individuals to acquire a diverse set of skills. • Moving across departments exposes employees to various aspects of the business, enhancing their capabilities and making them more adaptable. • employees gain a comprehensive understanding of how the entire organization operates. This broader perspective is valuable for those aiming to take on leadership roles in the future. • Role rotation equips individuals with the ability to navigate different challenges, making them more resilient and effective in various professional scenarios. Initially people go through a tough phase upon changing their roles as they need to understand the processes and procedures which fall within the ambit of their new profile but things become much easier once they get settled. Its like a training ground for career advancement. It's not just about changing desks, it's a strategic move that empowers individuals with the skills and perspectives needed to ascend the corporate ladder. I continue to hear from Nova Chief of Staff graduates that after completing the course they are now *confident* that they can do the CoS job. THIS IS WHY I BUILT THE COURSE.
