I, along with my colleagues at Amideast, Mr Safin Mohammed and Mr Mahmood Almuslehi, had the privilege of delivering English language classes to participants of the Heya Tech program, a remarkable initiative powered by Amideast/Iraq and Computiq - كومبيوتك. Together, we delivered courses across various language levels, empowering a group of brilliant Iraqi women to enhance their communication skills for a global tech environment. "Heya Tech" empowers Iraqi women with technical certifications from top US tech companies like Cisco, AWS, Meta, Microsoft, and Google. It also connects them with employers through workshops, networking events, and job fairs, while providing training in technical, English, and employability skills. Funded by the US Embassy in Baghdad, Heya Tech is a transformative program. Applications are now open for the next round in Baghdad and Basra provinces—don’t miss this chance to grow in the tech sector! Thank you to the participants, my colleagues, and the entire Heya Tech, Amideast, and Computiq teams for making this journey impactful. Let’s keep creating opportunities for women in technology! Thanks, Caroline Tosti, for such a summary! Concise, useful and full of feelgood advices :) I paste your summary here! On Friday, I attended cinfo Forum in Bern, a career fair for professionals of the international cooperation sector. It was a good balance of networking and information. NETWORKING What made me come to this event is the human factor for sure, catching-up and enlarging my network... 👉 So nice to catch-up with Antonin Lechat audiovisual producer and documentary film director with experience across Central Asia and Europe collaborating with organisations such as IFRC and MSF, currently directing a feature film documentary, co-produced by RTS. 👉 Congratulations Maxime Theler for shifting from the private sector to the not for profit sector bringing your finance background to them 👉 Nice also cathing up with Monique Nanchen, a former ICRC staff with strong field experience and expertise in the management of projects in child protection and currently involved in sustainability with "SHE changes climate" 👉 Ending the forum with you, Samira and Adriana, made my day! Samira Chapari Wildhaber is supporting the local Red Cross and handling a project on women and migration for the local public administration. Adriana Medina Meier, a social innovation specialist is managing projects on education in emergencies for the Geneva Global Hub 👉 I will definitely follow-up with the different speakers as I have further specific questions on their organizations. INFORMATION 👉 Here one key point I am choosing to highlight each conference Navigating the multilateral world, A Swiss professional’s journey ✅ I learned from Eugenia that UNICEF office in NY was moving to Italy. For the moment GVA office is not concerned according to her. How AI is shaping job hunt ✅ Use it to strenghten your humanity (instead of the boring stuff) and AIIB Head of Talent acquisition, Scott Fitzgerald confirmed taking into account the letter in order to get this more personal touch. Working on multilateral organisations ✅ The importance of a compelling story. For example, you may think managing a rock band for 3 years is not relevant and should not appear while it is saying a lot about management skills. Teaching and learning 21st century competencies for IC ✅ While attitude is important organisations are not investing on it The full report will be available on Cinfo at the end of the year Skills and profiles on demand for humanitarian settings ✅ Digital transformation, logistics, supply, data, information systems, management as well as critical thinking, healthy power dynamics, be flexible and dealing with ambiguity. Another strong point was done on self-awareness and being able to take good care of yourself. The adapting role of Global north professionals ✅

🌍 Takeaways from Engagement Weltweit 2024 🌍 On November 23rd, Hannah Metz and I attended Engagement Weltweit 2024, Germany’s premier career fair international cooperation. It was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new professionals, and engage in meaningful discussions about political change and its influence on our sector. Key Highlights while representing GIZ #InS: 🤝 Strengthened networks with senior experts and professionals across career stages. 🌟 Promoted GIZ International Services, boosting visibility in the sector. 💬 Engaged in meaningful discussions on political shifts and their impact on development cooperation. One of the most thought-provoking moments was a panel discussion with #SvenjaSchulze shaped by the current political circumstances and the anticipation of Germany’s upcoming elections in February 2025. The discussion also critiqued the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for being overly technical and failing to address the underlying power dynamics that perpetuate global inequalities. True sustainability, as argued, requires confronting power imbalances between donor states in the Global North and Global Majority Countries, rethinking traditional approaches, and aligning efforts with decolonized frameworks that emphasize equity, inclusion, and shared accountability. 💡 A powerful reminder that international cooperation must transcend technical solutions, addressing systemic issues, and fostering understanding to shape a more meaningful and equitable future. #GIZ #Decolonization #EngagementWeltweit2024
