PEER LEARNING PROCESS should be part of grooming of students.... Students studying in higher standards can very well teach lower standards students. By this method students learn to help others, their own understanding of subjects become CLEAR and it become part of their permanent memory. It helps in learning team behaviour, leadership qualities. It will be like revision for students. Learners also become more comfortable. Teachers may not have time to attend all 60 students in classroom, so peers can better help each other.... We adopt this concept of peer learning at teensNparents group. Teenagers and their parents can join the group for better learning. https://lnkd.in/gkuJiXH9

Ways to Prioritize Professional Development in Schools Ways schools can prioritize professional development is to differentiate plans to meet the specific needs and interests of teachers. Offering a variety of options such as workshops, conferences, online courses, and peer collaboration ensures accessibility and relevance. We can also provide a regular time in the school calendar for professional development activities. This can include staff meetings, designated PD days, or embedded PD within the school. Lastly, we can foster a culture of collaboration where teachers can share best practices, engage in peer mentoring, and participate in professional learning communities. This promotes ongoing growth and support among colleagues. Do you have ideas on ways to prioritize professional development in schools?

This morning I had the honor of sitting in as a community member for the Defense of Learning presentations at Simpsonville Elementary. And guys, I was impressed. They’d thought through their short six years in school and come out with some very wise observations. Many of these things, us adults are just starting to figure out. As they strove to show this panel of adults, family, and peers (scary right?) how they were learning to be like the profile of a graduate, they shared these tidbits that inspired me and hopefully help us all evaluate our own selves. 1. Each student defended two attributes they were strong in and one that they felt could use improvement. They confidently presented their strengths, didn’t qualify or back them down. And they were honest about ways they could better improve themselves. 2. One quality I could tell they worked the most on was being an effective communicator- and more specifically, adapting to the needs of their audience. One student said that he learned how to quiet the babies in the church nursery. Another young lady stated that she couldn’t talk to her three year old brother the same as her fourteen year old brother. If only more people grasped this concept today! 3. One common quality for improvement was being an innovative learner. Students gave examples of school projects, sleep overs with friends, and music lessons where they needed to learn to see the process through to the end. They talked about things like analyzing outcome, thinking creatively, and making sure their team members had different skill sets. So here are the questions I’m asking myself today… What am I excelling in right now? Where do I need to improve, and what specific qualities am I working toward? Am I communicating my passions effectively to the audience I’ve been given? Just some food for thought- from a fifth grader.

**What is Mentoring?** Mentoring is the process of guiding and supporting your child's growth, helping them develop confidence, skills, and values. **Importance of Mentoring** Mentoring fosters a strong parent-child bond, encourages positive development, and equips children with the tools they need to navigate life's challenges. **The Art of Mentoring: Essential Tips for Parents** 1. **Active Listening**: Truly hear your child's thoughts and feelings, fostering trust and understanding. 2. **Lead by Example**: Demonstrate the values and behaviors you wish to instill in your child. 3. **Encourage Independence**: Provide opportunities for your child to make decisions and learn from their experiences. 4. **Offer Constructive Feedback**: Guide your child with positive reinforcement and gentle corrections. 5. **Be Consistent**: Maintain steady boundaries and expectations to create a stable and secure environment.

Day one of summer staff professional development is complete! ⭐️ I facilitated a morning session titled, “The Ramifications of the Troublemaker Label and its Impact on Life Trajectory of Students.” Through discussions, case studies, and interactive exercises, educators explored the negative effects of such labels on students academic performance, self-esteem, and long-term life outcomes. The training aimed to prompt reflection among educators on the potential biases and stigmas associated with disciplinary labels. By gaining insights into alternative approaches and fostering a more empathetic mindset, educators will be better equipped to contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment that supports the holistic development of all students. Then an afternoon session titled, “How to be Comfortable with Being Uncomfortable.” This training guided educators through strategies for navigating and embracing discomfort in various aspects of their professional roles. Through interactive discussions, activities, and scenarios, participants explored the importance of discomfort in growth and learning, particularly in the context of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The workshop aimed to foster a culture where staff members can engage in challenging conversations, confront biases, and navigate unfamiliar situations with confidence. By developing a comfort with discomfort, educators will be better equipped to address sensitive topics and contribute to creating a more inclusive and dynamic educational environment.

Do you want to experience rejuvenation and lighten your mental load as an educator? I deeply appreciate the amount of professional development offered to me and consider myself a life long learner. Yet most PD feels like “one more thing” added to my plate which, realistically, I may not have the time for. Yet there are some professional development opportunities that don’t add to my load. They make my work lighter, easier, and filled with greater passion and drive. That’s why I am proud to be sharing The Enlightened Educator Project. We are building an intentional global community of educators who are dedicated to inner growth and development. We believe that in order to serve our students, we must examine our inner beliefs about teaching and learning and accept ourselves as whole people. This is not easy work, yet it makes everything else about teaching feel lighter. Become a founding member before our official launch on May 25th! https://lnkd.in/ezSrsGuQ

In the classroom (and beyond!), creating a safe space isn't just about physical safety – it's about fostering an environment where every voice feels valued, mistakes are seen as opportunities to learn, and hearts and minds feel nurtured. ✨ This means building trust, celebrating differences, and encouraging open communication. It's about learning to respond instead of react. Responding allows us to take a breath, consider the situation, and approach it with empathy and understanding. It allows us to create a space for questions, celebrate diverse perspectives, and ultimately, build a stronger learning community. In my 15 years of facilitating sessions with educators, out of school leaders, as well as recreation and community organizations, I've come across one truth: everyone experiences things that bother them and experiencing anxiety is normal. I can only think of two people who ever told me otherwise! It's okay to experience anxiousness, frustration, or even fear sometimes. These are a normal part of life, and trying to bottle them up can hinder our ability to learn and grow. It's usually the cause of behaviours we find challenging (our own included!). That's where creating safe spaces comes in. We can't respond effectively if we're stuck reacting impulsively. By creating a space for open communication and celebrating differences, we can help each other learn to acknowledge feelings and develop the tools to respond instead of react. What do you do when you are in a situation where you feel an urge to react?
