🔎 What do professional divers and headhunters have in common? 🌊👔 “My adventure in Egypt isn’t over yet.” 🇪🇬 After the incredible experience of The Antal AGC 2024 in Cairo, I followed it up with something equally exciting—diving in the crystal-clear waters of Sharm El Sheikh! 🌊 As I reflect on my dive, I can’t help but notice the parallels between my passion for diving and my work as an Antal International headhunter . Whether it’s exploring the depths of the ocean or discovering hidden talent, both require a deep sense of adventure, precision, and resilience. Here’s what diving has taught me about my role as a headhunter: 1. Deep Exploration: Just like diving into the unknown depths of the sea, headhunting is about looking beyond the obvious to uncover hidden talent. The best candidates, like the most stunning underwater sights, aren’t always visible at first glance. 2. Precision and Focus: Every move underwater matters, just like every detail in a recruitment process. Matching the right candidate with the right role requires the same level of care and accuracy as any underwater task. 3. Navigating Complex Environments: In both the ocean and the talent market, environments can be unpredictable. Changing currents remind me of shifting market dynamics, and in both cases, adaptability is key to success. 4. Planning and Preparation: A successful dive requires careful planning, just like a successful recruitment process. Understanding client needs, identifying the right talent, and anticipating challenges ensures everything runs smoothly. 5. Risk Management and Quick Decisions: Underwater, decisions must be made quickly to manage risks. Similarly, in recruitment, evaluating and managing risks during the talent selection process is critical to securing the best outcomes for both candidates and clients. 6. Resilience Under Pressure: The deeper you go, the more pressure you face—whether it’s underwater or in recruitment. Staying calm and focused under pressure allows us to deliver the best results, no matter the challenge. 7. Collaboration and Networks: Divers never go alone. We rely on teamwork to succeed. The same goes for recruitment—building strong networks and relationships helps us go further and find the best talent. ✨ Here's day 13 of my Job hunt in Dubai (Happy Saturday!): 🥇 Yes, it's the weekend (maybe not for you, but for the weary recruiters), kindly respect that this is their time to recharge, and do not go spamming their DMs and phones. Both of you rest up for another exhausting hunt next week. 🥈 Build it & They Will Come. Try to prepare yourself for next week's interviews, get your formal outfits cleaned, pressed and ready. Even if you do not have any interviews scheduled for the next week, just be prepared, a you never know when you shall receive a call. 🥉 That's an apartment hunting tip, make sure to ask your broker if the unit you're eyeing has a DEWA chiller or an Empower chiller, obviously the ones with the Empower chillers shall cost you a bit more. And if you're super lucky, you shall get an apartment that's chiller free. Oh, in Dubai chiller means AC 😁 🏅 That's not a tip, it' rather a funny anecdote. I wanted to look at some home/kitchen appliances today, took my wife and used the Roads and Transport Authority Metro, and headed to Sharaf DG metro station to check their biggest branch. Turns out it was jut the name of the metro station, no Sharaf DG branch their, and the biggest Sharaf DG branch is in the The Dubai Mall which I get to go by a free shuttle bus! Don't leave candidates hanging. Get back to them quickly. 3. Give them constructive feedback so they can improve to land the job they want. 4. If you know of another company looking for such a candidate, why not help both sides. Job searching can be emotionally and mentally draining. Put yourself in the candidates shoes.
