Reflecting on one of my most rewarding projects during my Bachelor’s degree in 2021, I had the opportunity to shoot and edit a Business News Bulletin. This project was both challenging and immensely rewarding. The task involved gathering current news and presenting it as a traditional news channel bulletin. This required meticulous preparation, including scripting, making critical studio decisions such as selecting camera gear, choosing optimal camera settings, controlling lighting, and adjusting the green screen. Delivering the news with impartial expressions was also crucial. This hands-on experience taught me the intricacies of in-studio conditions and the demands of producing a professional news bulletin. Although the project required collaboration, it was ultimately an individual endeavor where each student had to make their own decisions from pre-production to post-production, including editing the bulletin using Adobe Premiere Pro. The post-production phase was particularly enlightening. I successfully removed the green screen background and applied a professional-looking backdrop. Despite sourcing real-world visuals, breaking plates, and background music from various sources, I meticulously selected the best visuals and edited them with my raw footage. I also designed an imaginary news channel logo, applied scrolling texts, created animations, and stitched all these elements together. This project provided me with invaluable experience in roles such as news director, studio technician, news presenter, news editor, and journalist. Above all, meeting the 24-hour deadline for visualizing and presenting the project taught me the importance of time management and efficiency. #VideoProduction #NewsBulletin #AdobePremierePro #BroadcastJournalism #StudioExperience

The biggest mistake any creative team can make with quick-turn deliverables is not having enough preparation completed in pre-production. I emphasize planning ahead as much as possible because that's where efficiency begins. One way we achieve this with quick-turn videos is by creating a 'string out,' where we can lock in color presets, label key moments, and get client approval on music in advance. This allows us to sequence and prep the project ahead of time. It's essentially the full edit, minus any footage, ensuring everyone understands the energy and flow before cutting it together. For 24-hour edits, a key part of the process is having an on-site Digital Imaging Technician (DIT). Each memory card is labeled with the camera operator's initials, allowing us to track and manage footage seamlessly—no duplicates, no lost shots, no formatting issues, just efficient filmmaking. Our on-site DIT isn't just transferring data; they're also pulling the best shots to create a selects sequence, prepping the project for the lead editor. The lead editor will then take over, and within 24 hours from the start of the event, a completed version of the edit is ready to go live, pending any last-minute client tweaks. For us, this is a true extension of an existing internal creative team, supporting them on all fronts. This recap of St. Louis CITY SC vs. Chicago Fire FC is a prime example of how it all comes together in the end. Things that helped me to build my team.. Back then in Oct 2023 when we started hiring for CSEWhy, we got tens of applications for a single role. But how to filter them out? They were good at their skills but that's not the only thing which we were looking for. Why? If I am hiring a video editor, will I expect him to write content for me? Of course not!! The things that we were looking for in people were: 1) Extreme Ownership 2) Someone who can be groomed 3) Not need to be micro-managed 4) Think of ideas beyond his role And of course, the skill matters for which we are hiring. All these things helped us to build a strong team which we call "CSEWhycrew" Our team has flexible working hours, they work when they want, where they want. They take care of the work for which they have been hired and we take take of them. Just hold extreme ownership and you're the game!
