🚀 Exciting News for Rural Colorado! 🚀 We're thrilled to share a monumental leap forward in public safety communications for rural areas in Colorado! 🌄 The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) has made a significant breakthrough by connecting rural first responders across the state, ensuring they have the reliable, fast, and secure communication tools they need to protect and serve our communities. 🔹 Why This Matters: Rural regions often face unique challenges in communication due to their geographical location and lack of infrastructure. This initiative by FirstNet marks a pivotal step in bridging that gap, providing first responders with the critical connectivity required during emergencies. 🔹 The Impact: Enhanced communication capabilities mean quicker response times, improved coordination, and ultimately, lives saved. This development not only supports our brave first responders but also provides peace of mind to the communities they serve. 🔹 Looking Ahead: This is just the beginning! The successful implementation in Colorado sets a promising precedent for expanding FirstNet’s services to rural areas nationwide, ensuring that all first responders, no matter where they are, have access to the best tools to do their job effectively. Let's celebrate this remarkable achievement for Colorado and the future of public safety communications. Together, we're paving the way for a safer, more connected tomorrow. 🎉 #FirstNet #PublicSafety #RuralConnectivity #Colorado #FirstResponders #InnovationInCommunication 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g2KaByGp

Before we welcome July, I want to take a moment to celebrate my two-year anniversary with the #PHXWater Services Department from May! 🎉🎉🎉 Over the past year, I continue to learn about the behind-the-scenes work that makes water flow from our taps every day. Our team of 1500 work tirelessly 24/7, 365 days a year to provide the crucial water & wastewater services to our community. Here are my biggest takeaways and key messages for residents: - Understand the water cycle. It may seem like a memory from elementary school, but it's crucial to understanding the value of water. - There is no new water on Earth. We drink the same water that the dinosaurs did! - Conservation starts with each of us. Do what you can. If you have a green lawn in Arizona, learn how to water it properly. Most water use is outdoors. Plant native plants when you can. Use the tools that cities provide. - Innovation is key to protecting our water future. From WaterSense products that help use less water to advanced water purification, innovation & augmentation will equip Phoenix and surrounding cities to continue to grow and thrive. Take time to learn about these developments. - Staffing is critical to operations and necessary to continue to provide this critical service to our community. Learn more at Phoenix.gov/workforwater. I could go on and on.. but if you have read to this point, do me a favor and follow @PHXWater on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook & X.❤️💧🌵

Did you know electric cooperatives use a collaborative approach to emergency planning and response? The mutual aid model allows co-ops to help each other out after major storms and disasters––it’s essentially neighbors helping neighbors. One of the seven cooperative principles is “Cooperation Among Cooperatives.” Mutual aid embodies this principle and is a vital part of how we operate and serve members of our local communities. Electric co-ops know we’re strongest when we work together.

I received an email tonight that was flagged as an "Untrusted Sender" by my network security. Big banner notice right across the top of an email so I was wary of proceeding. In a lot of ways this reminds me of how community engagement work has been performed historically. The public gets brief windows to deliver comments and usually only around mandated permitting actions. This breeds distrust. Over time that distrust grows and multiplies due to other issues such as changing project scopes (which happen all the time). What are we left with? Situations where industry walks into public meetings with "untrusted sender" perceived across their foreheads. There's a better way. Trust takes time and must be earned through genuine engagement and outreach, ideally through supporting and interacting with community organizations over longer periods. Objective transparency. All sites have environmental impacts, if you want a community to begin to trust your operations, don't be afraid to present the good along with the less than good. #communityengagement #environmentaljustice
