India's live concert industry is growing like never before. In 2023, over 13.5 million people attended live events, including concerts, musicals, and comedy shows. According to a 2023 report on the music creator economy, live concerts raked in an astronomical ₹8 billion in revenue last year. What's more, this number is expected to grow by a whopping 25% in 2025.

So, crazy idea: what if we start arranging music in public domain and just...make it funky? Like Funky Beethoven? R&B Mozart? Lo-Fi John Philip Sousa? Metal Bach? 😂😂😂 But seriously... I know, I know, I know, this has already been happening. I mean, look at most of the early jazz standards out there...a good chunk of them are contrafacts of existing works (mostly musicals), but...jazzy. Or EDM classical music — that's a big one. I think I will be looking into this more. There are hundreds, thousands of public domain pieces out there that could get new life breathe new life into this music. More than 2 Mio. visitors to musicals in Hamburg   Hamburg is a "Musical City" with several permanent Theater venues and a long history of successful shoes with a nationwide appeal. In the 1980s, the larger commercialization of music and dance shows started and built on a tradition of revues and operettas from the late 19th century. The first large-scale successes were the notorious hit shows by Lloyd Webber - Cats and Phantom - and the trend continues until today with the inescapable Disney productions of Lion King, Tarzan and Frozen.   With more than 2 Mio. musical visitors, Hamburg fares well in relation to other German cities, it leads well ahead of Bochum, Stuttgart or Berlin, the latter with less than half a million yearly visitors. But Hamburg is dwarfed by London and New York with yearly numbers more than seven times as high, each around at least 15 Mio. visitors. But then again, both cities are more than 10 times as big.
