Educator developing people’s fire safety understanding. What I offer is the same training, done better.
As a Logistics Manager, most of my time was spent planning and revising Lift Plans, lifting operation Risk Assessments and Method Statements. They included information on: - Who was working on the lift (Operator, Slinger(s), Traffic Marshals, Access Control, Supervision) - What we were lifting - What machine we were using - What lifting attachments and lifting accessories we were using - Current ground conditions (did I need a crane pad installed?) - Where the lift is happening - Whenbthe lift is taking place - How the chains or strops needed to be placed - How high and how heavy - How it’s to be lifted I then made sure I had everything I needed, that it was inspected, and if there was a crane pad I’d inspect it and liaise with ground workers to get it done to correct standards. Lifting operations are one of the most dangerous operations that you can perform. This is something your told on your CPCS or NPORS course. As I flicked through Facebook tonight I come across this. This right here is an accident waiting to happen, but this guy thinks he’s got his red card and that he’s the dogs bollocks. Well the bollocks bit is right! This right here has the potential to kill people. This would never happen on my site. A H block and hook costs a few quid and makes this operation safer. If anyone had pulled this on my site he’d be jobless by first break. Who can tell me what’s wrong with it and why it can kill?

I am peased to share that we have just completed another successful project in Brest! Who always looks tired after a dry dock? I certainly do! Working 12-hour shifts, 7 days a week is no easy feat. I have enjoyed working with new clients on this one and understanding their unique needs, it’s always a rewarding experience. Every project, from planning to implementation, not only helps me grow professionally but allows me to foster new connections in the marine outfitting industry, all sharing a common goal, to make the ship a better experience for its passengers. A quick note on health and safety - there’s no need to worry about the photo where I am not wearing a hard hat. Crannage had stopped, I was far from the edge and a dynamic risk assessment was complete for the 4 second removal of the hard hat to snap the picture. Now, I’m looking forward to closing the project down and spending some quality time with my family and recharging before we embark on our next venture in under two weeks. Thanks to everyone who made this project a success. Here’s to many more! #marineOutfitting #professionalgrowth #teamwork #projectsuccess #healthandsafety #projectmanagement
