Question for you all… Is it time to change the disability symbol? 🤔 The current symbol has been a recognisable representation of disability for decades, but as society evolves, so do our perspectives and the language we use. Many advocate for a more inclusive and empowering symbol that reflects the diversity of the disabled community. Some suggest redesigning the symbol to include various forms of disability, while others believe it should celebrate the capabilities of individuals rather than focus solely on limitations. What do you think? Should we stick with tradition or embrace a new representation that resonates more with today's values? Let’s hear your thoughts! Your voice matters! Share your opinions in the comments below and read more about the topic in our latest blog at https://lnkd.in/eKdAvNEx #DisabilityAwareness #InclusiveDesign #RepresentationMatters #CommunityVoices #ChangeIsPossible

"Disability Issues" are everybody's issues! Bodily autonomy, health disparities, access to health care, proximity to political power, Liberty, housing, education, employment. As a group we are bigger than either the Republicans or Democrats and we must demand politicians understand that. See how candidates running for office responded to the disability community's questions on Disability Rights Montana's website. Then decide who you think answered best and use your power at the ballot box! #NDVRW2024 #DisabilityVoting #REVUP #AccessibilityMatters #EveryVoteCounts #Inclusion #EqualRights #DisabilityAdvocacy #VoterEmpowerment https://lnkd.in/gQa2DvYC

Did you know at least 1-in-4 adults in the United States has some type of disability? Every July we celebrate Disability Pride Month which marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This month is an opportunity to honor the history, achievements, experiences, and struggles of the disability community. We’d also like to highlight Open Hearth’s Continuum of Care Permanent Supportive Housing program (CoC), in which all 75+ participating households are headed by a person with a disability. To qualify for CoC, an individual or family must be experiencing homelessness at entry into the program. Unfortunately, people with disabilities are over represented within the homeless community. Let’s celebrate Disability Pride Month by supporting a future where individuals with disabilities are not disproportionately affected by homelessness. #DisabilityPride #OpenHearth #PermanentSupportiveHousing
