Monday Mythbusters: However nice it sounds to catch a rodent and release it in your local woods, you can actually be flouting some important animal laws. Pest rodents shouldn't be released into the wild as you could destabilize the ecosystem you release them into and destroy protected UK species🦎. And on the other side of the coin, you are taking an animal that had a food, a water source and shelter and now releasing it into an unknown environment where your actions could leave it suffering a protracted and painful death😢. So what can I do? If you are using a live cage trap then you should be safely dispatching of the pest rodent once caught, so you are better off getting in a professional who can sort the rodent issue in the first place. This applies to grey squirrels, brown rats, black rats and house mice. Please refer to the Animal Welfare Act 2006 & Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981
