So we decided to start again and here is where we ended up! My husband and I ran 3 businesses between us under the one roof, through the most turbulent social, economic and health crisis's of the past 3 decades. We couldn't work from home, we had children whom had to be home schooled and a mortgage that was creating a noose around any freedom we may have dreamt of in the current climate. Just when we had a little glimpse of light at the end of the Covid tunnel came the interest rate hikes, economic uncertainty in the eyes of every working age consumer and the dreaded word "inflation". We, like other business owners were working 7 days a week, with no-one paying for us to take time off or perhaps giving us a little tax relief for those 4 weeks a year we don't ever get to see. So we made a decision, a decision that has pivoted our entire days, hours and lifestyle as a little family of 3. We sold up everything in Sydney for a sea change. We bought 5 acres, 10 minutes to the saltwater and have launched DVine Experiences, a food and wine tour business in Port Macquarie. We are passionate about showcasing all that Port Macquarie offers, that it is more than just it's beautiful coastlines. We have vivacious vineyards, daring distilleries, bonza breweries and artisan cuisine. We are focused on creating DVine Experiences that drove us to this beautiful place we now call home. In 2020, family businesses contributed an estimated £575bn to Gross Value Added (GVA); equivalent to 51% of all private sector employment in the UK. " My great grandad, grandad, dad and now me have all run #familybusinesses.
