🗓️ Earlier this month our Leicestershire Police negotiators teamed up with Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service to plan, arrange and deliver a negotiation input to our Fire & Rescue teams. This is due to on occasion, our Leicestershire firefighters will find themselves in situations where they need to communicate with people in crisis until the Police and Negotiators are in attendance. 🧑🏫 The training consists of a Presentation designed for them which is similar to the first responder inputs we deliver to our uniform colleagues, to provide them with some awareness of persons in crisis and some do’s and don’ts and advise when talking to them. ✅ Following this there will be three realistic scenarios for the Leicester Fire and Rescue Service to put what they have learned into practice. 🚒 It is key responsibility for us as Police Force to support our fellow Blue Light teams with training and resources where possible to ensure our communities are kept safe from harm. #TeamLeicestershire

Last night we were at Marbury Park for our #TuesdayTraining (and so nice to start the evening with a bit of daylight!) The session focused on our crime scene protocols for when we find a misper or object that might be of interest to the search. We split into three teams and had three scenarios to deal with. When the misper or item was located, we first need to take a safe approach. Then we move to preservation of life (administering first aid and casualty care) or doing a ROLE assessment (recognition of life extinct). If this is the case, we then have to preserve the crime scene and report an ETHANE (exact location, type of incident, hazards, access, number of casualties and emergency services) to control. #20YearsOfCSAR #CSARIs20 #LowlandRescue

Before you offer first aid services to a talking casualty establish a rapport and assure the victim of quick recovery when even the situation is complicated

An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) in a police officer's car is crucial as it allows immediate response to cardiac emergencies, potentially saving lives before professional medical help arrives. Who answers? ☎️ The operator answers, and asks "Which emergency service do you require?" What's the choice? We easily can name: Police Fire Ambulance Did you know it's also the emergency number to get through to the coastguard 🌊 as well as mountain rescue. ⛰️ My friends and family seem to think I'm one of the emergency services.
