How to convince your boss to apply a human-centred approach to the training solution you are developing. (Script) 💬 If they say: “I don’t know if we have time to undertake all the HCD activities. The business wants this solution ASAP.” You say: “I hear you and I appreciate our time pressures. What I’ve done is look at the scope and schedule of the project. I’ve selected appropriate HCD activities that will have a great impact on the goal we’re trying to achieve and still allow us to meet the project deadline. There are consequences if we don’t complete some HCD activities. We may not meet our project goal, meaning our team’s time was wasted, as well as company money wasted and poorly invested. I want you to have this information so you can make an informed decision that is best for our organisation.” Objections like this are common for internal and external stakeholders. HRD & Leadership Consultant | Business Partner | Organizational Development | Human Resources Development | Organizational Psychologist
Do you know what instructional design means? "The deliberate arrangement of learning conditions to promote the achievement of some intended goal (Driscoll, 2000)." To be honest with you all, I've been working in the industry for a few years and in collaboration with HR consultants in Brazil, and I've never heard the word "instructional design". Even as a teacher, I had never heard anything similar. Based on the definition, I know that many HR and education professionals are working with this idea in their workplaces. I also had the opportunity to design programs in my previous jobs. However, after this course, which is part of my master’s program, I was able to see my personal gaps. I would like to share my fresh knowledge with everyone who might be interested in the subject. Here you can find my personal work based on the book Instructional Design by Patricia L. Transforming Learning & Development with 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐧 eLearning Courses + Creative Solutions | Instructional Design Consultant | Ideator💡
Have you ever juggled too many hats? In L&D, it’s easy to take on ALL THE THINGS. Especially when you're the only person in your department. Some of the hats that we wear: ▪️ Instructional Designer ▪️ Project Manager ▪️ Strategy ▪️ LMS Admin ▪️ Developer ▪️ Facilitator ▪️ Illustrator ▪️ Voiceover Artist ▪️ Quality Assurance reviewer Now, let's talk delegation, or the art of hat-sharing. Imagine that you're surrounded by an array of hats, each representing a different task or responsibility. Some hats fit you perfectly, while others...not so much. By passing along a fedora of facilitation or a beret of blended learning to someone whose head it fits better, you not only lighten your own load but also empower others to shine in roles they're suited for. In your opinion, what type of work is worth delegating?

Trainers and Instructional Designers – How often do you get to collaborate with each other? It occurred to me recently that throughout most of my career as a corporate trainer, I NEVER got to work directly with the instructional designer. In fact, I didn’t even know who they were! 🤷♂️ That all changed when I landed my first job with both training and instructional design duties. Finally, I got to collaborate with the ID because, well… it was ME! 🙌 While juggling both roles was a challenge, it was pretty cool being the one to design AND deliver the content. I have since switched over to full time design. In my current role, I get to collaborate regularly with the trainers while I’m designing, and it is great! The collaboration between trainers and instructional designers is so valuable. Together, we work to ensure that the content not only works on paper but truly resonates when it’s delivered. How about you? Do you get to work together with the training designer (if you are the trainer) or the trainer (if you're the designer)? Do you think it helps?

With this book, you will learn to build the structure of the instructional design process, effective formal and informal learning experiences, and an ecosystem that supports the learning initiatives. This crash-course of a book also guides you on working with subject matter experts, supervisors, and early testers and drawing learning design ideas from unfamiliar places. You’ll learn how and when to make decisions for using tools and technologies, hiring external help, and purchasing off-the-shelf training programs to speed up the work. Whether you're looking to create a training program from scratch or you want to bring in an expert to help put the finishing touches on a package that's ready to go, the Program Planning Partnership is for you. Having an instructional designer in your corner means you can be confident in the learning you've created. Subject matter experts are just that - experts! But it's hard to know if that expertise is translating sometimes, isn't it? Because the only way to test your process, is, well, to test your process. Yikes. No yikes. When you bring on your program planning partner (that's me!), I can help you refine your direction, frame your learning package, and ensure that the outcomes you're striving for are met head-on. And we can do it faster than you think. So if you're in the market for some expert learning help but don't have the budget for a full-blown support system, or frankly, don't want to manage an employee, let's chat. We can make beautiful training courses. Together. Apply now. https://lnkd.in/ec3rkPNA
