Does this one speak to all women? Is this what women want most? I talk to female colleagues about barriers regularly. The #wagegap and #payequity? Yes! #Microaggressions and #sexism? Yes! But office temperature? This almost never comes up. Worse, it caters to young women and ignores older women. This post might have garnered my 'like' a decade ago, but as I cruise into the latter half of my 40s, and approach the big 5-0 (wow!) I know many women who would be negatively impacted by more heat. The older ones - with wisdom, experience, and mighty spending power - who may also be peri/menopausal. A group that is often underrepresented in agencies, and it shows in our work. One temperature is a one size fits all solution, one size rarely works for all the humans. The very definition of #equity is that people are different and unique, so solutions need to be #flexible to work for them all... NOT just the majority! Perhaps a truly #equitable solution would be giving people the ability to adjust heat/air in their area in either direction? After all, we can only take off so many layers of clothing in an office before HR comes calling! 😂 #hot #cool #IWD #inclusion #advertising #HR #people #culture
