City Resilience Program’s Post

🌍 Last week, the Uzbekistan Territorial Development Forum brought together over 200 experts and policymakers from across national and local governments to discover and discuss practical solutions for building green and climate-resilient cities in #Uzbekistan's emerging market economy.  The City Resilience Program led one of the sessions that explored how responsible urban expansion, pedestrian and mobility planning, and transit-oriented development can be applied in four Uzbek cities. Participants used CRP's #CityScanmaps, which showcase insightful analytics to help cities understand their unique socioeconomic, geophysical, and climate conditions. Through hands-on group work, we focused on how to create green and dense neighborhoods, and how to integrate resilience into planning. Local urban planners from Uzbek cities gained important perspectives from global external experts, while city officials grappled with the on-the-ground realities of cities undergoing rapid urbanization. Together, we worked to bridge data gaps, identify urban resilience challenges, and share solutions grounded in both local context and global expertise.   The insights from the Forum will directly influence the ongoing policy dialogue on territorial development in Uzbekistan and support the implementation of existing and the design of new lending operations. As cities around the world tackle climate change, initiatives like this provide valuable, actionable steps to build cities that are greener, more livable, and resilient for future generations. 🌱🌆 #ClimateResilience #SustainableCities #UrbanPlanning #GreenTransition #LowCarbon  #UrbanDevelopment #ResilienceBuilding SECO Economic Cooperation and Development   Bundesministerium für Finanzen  The World Bank  Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR)
