Community colleges play a crucial role in a students ability to access higher education. California State Polytechnic University-Pomona values accessibility to all that higher education has to offer through multiple pathways to a 4-year degree. Transfer pathways pave the way for #communitycollege students to seamlessly transition to universities where they can continue their academic pursuits. This bridge between institutions ensures that no student's potential is left unfulfilled regardless of their starting point. There are few if any official transfer pathways for students in #engineering between California community colleges and 4-year institutions. That is changing in large part thanks to the dedication of faculty and administrators at Cal Poly Pomona, Mt. San Antonio College, Citrus College, and Victor Valley College. Today was the signing of an #MOU that marks the start of a pathway in #civilengineering. This will be a model for other engineering degrees and with other institutions. This incredible work by Professor Jeyoung Woo and Professor Winny Dong is fulfilling our responsibility to address barriers and ensure that transfer pathways are accessible, efficient, and equitable for all. #CPP #signing #transferstudents #transferpathways #options

Growing up, I dreamed of walking the halls of Purdue University. Given my undergrad in Mechanical Engineering, and the stature of Purdue as 'stuff of legends' in my field of interest (Fluid Dynamics), I remember anxiously waiting for 'that one e-mail' from Admissions Committee of Purdue, in a hope that they would offer me a spot at their prestigious cohort of Fall of 2009. The mail did come, but it wasn't the one I had been hoping for 😢 I ended up accepting University of Florida's offer (with a generous scholarship), and those 2 years at Gainesville transformed me as a person and fostered the most important bonds of friendships/network in my life. Fast forward to Today: I get a message from an #Applicant that he has received an offer letter from Purdue University, his dream college as well. I couldn't be happier for him! I was equally grateful for the fact that I got to play the role of his career coach on this journey, where our shared manifestations resulted in collaborative success. Full karma moment, I tell you! This 'shared journey' that I take with each of my candidates brings me to two realizations: 1️⃣ Our dreams never truly leave us. They sometimes take on new forms and find fulfillment through the triumphs of those we help along the way. 2️⃣ Mentorship is a two-way street that enriches both the applicant as well as the coach. Such 'shared journeys' also make me appreciate the beauty of human connections as opposed to the new-normal, AI-driven world that we are living in. Here's to dreams—those achieved, those in pursuit, and those we carry forward for others. #AdmissionsConsulting #CareerJourney #PurdueUniversity #highereducation

Purdue Engineering application pool rises to its highest-ever level! Since 2013, applications to #Purdue with Engineering as the first-choice educational goal have more than doubled, growing from 11,030 to 28,137. “It is exciting to see that Purdue #Engineering is now among the top engineering colleges in terms of market demand. Our continuing innovations in quality undergraduate education at scale are reflected in the historic high rankings of our undergraduate programs,” said Arvind Raman, the John A. Edwardson Dean of the College of Engineering. Incoming student enrollment in West Lafayette — expected to surpass 3,300 students in Fall 2024 — will shatter the previous record, set in Fall 2021. Another estimated 500 students will enroll at Purdue University in Indianapolis, where applications surged 204 percent from Fall 2023 to Fall 2024. Full article: https://bit.ly/4cjNeo4

Here we go again. The US News and World Report's annual college rankings are out. I think you know where I stand on rankings by now. The Cal Poly Pomona College of Engineering ranks #10 among universities where a doctorate is not offered. Additionally, CPP Engineering is #4 in Civil, #3 in Computer, #4 in Electrical and #8 in Mechanical. There is no doubt that these are phenomenal rankings for one of the largest, most diverse Colleges of Engineering in the nation, and the rankings are a testament to the great work being done across the College. Overall, California State Polytechnic University-Pomona ranks #3 among regional universities in the west - another phenomenal result. Talking about doing the right thing from my last "rankings" post: The ranking that I am most proud of at this university in this ranking cycle is being named the #2 Best College for Veterans. And, our sister school to the north, California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, was ranked #1. We proudly support our #veterans and are proud of their service and commitment. The The California State University system ranks very highly for support of veteran students, and we are all committed to their success. #CPP #studentsuccess #rankings #CSU

My latest article for UConn College of Engineering... it was an absolute honor to interview and write about this incredible leader, engineer, educator, scholar, with a humble heart. And he's also the classiest of classical guitarist! Kazem Kazerounian.
Dean Kazem Kazerounian leaves a legacy of leadership and growth for the College of Engineering. During his tenure, enrollment in the College of Engineering has more than doubled and research expenditures have quadrupled. His lasting effect on University of Connecticut will be felt for years to come and we welcome him back as faculty with open arms!

As my daughter and I navigate the college search process to build her balanced college list, I wanted to share a few lists the experts at IvyWise have put together — starting with the 2024 best engineering colleges in the U.S. 🎓 Remember, when building your college list, it's important to pay attention to academic, social, and financial fit. 🏫 Ask yourself what types of programs you're looking for in a university; what size of school you want to attend; if you want to live in an urban or rural area; whether you would prefer smaller classes for interactive discussions or larger lectures; if the financial aid offerings fit your budget; etc. 💭 Rankings lists can be a great place to begin your research, but remember not to rely on them when it comes time to narrow down your list with the criteria above! 💡 #CollegeSearch #CollegeList #CollegeVisits #CampusVisit #CollegeTour #CampusTour #CollegePrep #CollegeBound #CollegeAdmissions
