What purpose does this serve? Is this a strategy to recover stolen items, or what specific role is the police playing in these situations? The looting and damage to business properties occurred in the presence of police personnel, seemingly with their tacit approval. Now, the question arises: who has given the directive to locate and retrieve the stolen items? The affected businesses are not seeking retribution or an attempt to reclaim what was stolen. What is urgently required is a clear and comprehensive policy to address such acts during these challenging times. It is disconcerting to witness the events unfolding in PNG, and there is a pressing need for transparency and accountability. What measures are in place to prevent such incidents in the future, and how can we ensure the protection of businesses during periods of unrest? The community deserves clarity on these matters to rebuild trust and safeguard against potential recurrences.

Is that the value of the life of a survivor of GBV? I am finding it very difficult to reconcile a sentence like this with the fight against GBV. First and foremost, prayers for the officers and their loved ones both personally and professionally. May those impacted find the comfort and resources necessary to endure and survive these critical incidents. Secondly, each week and sometimes each day finds posts and reports of this war against law enforcement! These continued attacks on police are WAY BEYOND TRAGIC, they’re of EPIDEMIC proportions! This war against our brothers and sisters in blue, our trusted civil servants who place themselves in the line of fire, both literally and symbolically, on behalf of their neighbors, community members, and the vulnerable who are in desperate need! This reactive violence against police MUST END! It is BEYOND INSANITY that those who protect and serve have no systemic, political, or national protections/back up for themselves! Without the rest of the institutions, and organizations standing with and behind them, our police officers are themselves becoming the fatalities! Our legislators, government officials, especially at the highest levels, continue to appear ambivalent and even duplicitous about protecting police lives. When will those, at the most basic community level who have taken an oath to protect and serve their/our communities, nation, and Constitution, be important enough to those that make and adjudicate the laws, demonstrate the same commitment to those they supposedly serve? When will those in power demonstrate a passion to protect our law enforcement servants?!?!? The inaction of our leaders is nothing short of institutional and organizational betrayal! This escalation of lawlessness, the descent into anarchy, compounded by the willingness of those that prosecute these murderous lawbreakers by passively or even actively, minimizing and trivializing the seriousness of their actions and rendering little or no consequences for the aggressions perpetuated against our law enforcers! The increase in attacks against our police is unconscionable and violates the constitutional rights of ALL citizens! When will the “progressive” district attorneys, the “progressive” judges, and the ambivalent legislators decide “enough is enough”? When will they have the conscience, conviction, and backbone to use the tools/countermeasures called “laws” to prosecute a clear and consistent strategy countering and ending this war on law enforcement? How many more precious citizens, who have dedicated themselves to enforcing the law, have to perish or be injured and forever impact the lives of those that loved them, before our leaders say “enough is enough”? We all pray for our fallen and those who will endure those injuries for decades to come and even inter-generationally. We pray that our government officials will wake up to this tragedy, end their silence, speak with one voice and intervene decisively! These increasingly frequent murderous attacks on our law enforcement colleagues, friends and neighbors NEEDS TO STOP! NOW!

How can a human being do this?
