We must listen to the lived experience of our youth When we listen to the youth we can develop sustainable and compassionate interventions that are person centered. The person centered interventions are the ones that sustain the empowerment It’s when we become disconnected from the voice of lived experience that we see our progress stagnation So let’s do what we can to not only listen to but include in leadership boards and policy the voice and action of youth and others with lived experience.

For those of you who may not be aware, I've been deeply involved in the redevelopment of Tullahassee, OK the oldest historic Black town in Oklahoma, over the past 24 months. Here are some highlights of the exciting work we've accomplished: 1. Collaborated with the town to focus on their primary revenue source, water-based piping, and successfully secured a grant resulting in $1.1 million in ARPA funds. This funding addressed the town's water situation, it will reduce leakage by 60% and providing a significant boost to their revenue base. The largest Grant the town has ever received. 2. Analyzed the town's financial model and recommended the implementation of a sales tax base. The proposal was passed and has led to a remarkable thousand percent increase in tax revenue, primarily driven by online sales tax. 3. Received recent news that the town's major goal of revitalizing their Jphn Ford Community Center is well underway. With the installation of HVAC, flooring, and nearing completion of the roof, the town has also partnered with a program out of Tulsa to host basketball AAU tournaments in the upcoming spring and summer seasons. These updates mark significant progress in the economic development of historic Black communities. It's fulfilling to be part of this journey and contribute to making Black history. These developments are just the beginning of a series of blueprints aimed at uplifting these communities. #BlackHistoryMonth #EconomicDevelopment #CommunityRevitalization
