Great point! It's fascinating how technology is embraced swiftly in certain sectors while lagging behind in others. The construction industry traditionally lags behind, however we’re seeing a gradual shift with more AI technology being adopted into the industry.
🍕 We ordered some pizza and cheesy bread this weekend and as usual, I was delighted to watch the Domino's Delivery Tracker do its thing. It seems so obvious and straightforward now, but when the Tracker was launched in 2008 (16 years ago!) it was revolutionary in the visibility it brought to the pizza delivery space. 👀 Can you imagine not being able to track your millions of dollars of freight in 2024 if Domino's has been tracking pizza for four presidential administrations...

How restaurant owners can decrease COGS in 4 steps. ⬇️ (TLDR; vendors change prices & restaurants don't notice, so paying attention & negotiating can be fruitful.) 1. Purchase from multiple vendors: avoid paying more than you need to by purchasing different items from different suppliers. 2. Track vendor expenses closely in real-time: notice when prices change so you can easily compare prices & calculate potential cost savings. 3. Know your menu profitability inside & out: notice the moment a dish's COGS increases and swap ingredients or modify the dish. 4. Negotiate: communicate what you need & work with your vendor to achieve the best possible price. ---- Knowing your numbers (and paying close attention to them) is empowering!
