There is a common misconception that engineers, especially those who specialize in facility management, should have the technical skills to fix any mechanical or electrical problems. This view often arises from the stereotype that all engineers are "overhaul specialists" who can deal with any technical issue regardless of their expertise. Reality: An Engineer or Facility Management Practitioner is more of a coordinator and manager, not a technician. In fact, the role of an FM professional, especially at the management level, has more to do with overseeing the operational and maintenance aspects of a facility than performing repairs directly. Their responsibilities often include: Planning and Scheduling: Plan maintenance schedules and ensure routine inspections are performed. Coordination: Work with expert technicians and contractors who have technical skills for specific repairs.
