In 2023, I participated in two virtual convenings designed to help establish “a cross-national community of scholars whose members take appreciative, critical, and practical perspectives on advancing educational access, quality, and equity by (re)building education systems.” The work has as intended led to further collaborations over these timely issues that we grapple with in different education contexts. In a serie of interviews we explore these questions and concerns regarding equity and education systems, including in Nordic education. Donald Peurach Thomas Hatch https://lnkd.in/dYkzgNZ8

This Wednesday, nine brave BSU students will share stories of their widely varying experiences, values and political positions. And we get to practice just listening and reflecting, without judgment, interruption or jumping to conclusions. ⚜️ 2025 Independent Mayoral Candidate for New Orleans ⚜️ Award Winning Psychotherapist. Published Author. Founder of Twiggs Research and Consulting Group, LLC.
🚨 Big Announcement! 🚨 After months of hard work, I’m proud to announce the completion of our 200+ page platform, titled The NOLA Prosperity and Cultural Preservation Plan—a comprehensive vision for the future of New Orleans. This plan isn’t just about making promises, it’s about real solutions that focus on prosperity and preserving our unique culture for generations to come. Our plan is built around 4 key pillars: 1️⃣ Education and Teacher Reform: We will revitalize our public neighborhood schools, support our teachers, and invest in trade programs that will equip our students with the skills they need to succeed. 2️⃣ Crime and Anti-Corruption Reform: It’s time to clean up City Hall and restore trust in our local government by targeting corruption and ensuring public safety for all. 3️⃣ Mental and Medical Healthcare Reform: We’re committed to expanding access to mental health services, ensuring every New Orleanian has the care they deserve. We’re also pushing for a state-of-the-art behavioral health hospital to support those in crisis. 4️⃣ Job Creation and Infrastructure Development: From fixing our broken streets to creating 41,000 sustainable jobs, we are laying the foundation for a stronger, more resilient economy. This platform represents a historic movement for New Orleans—a city that deserves real leadership and a plan that doesn’t just talk about change but makes it happen. Let’s make history together. Join me as we work toward a New Orleans that is prosperous, just, and culturally vibrant! #nola #neworleans #twiggsformayor #nolalife #hope

The U.S. Department of Justice Community Relations Service, the DOJ COPS office, and The Ohio State University's Divided Community Project released a new publication: "Navigating Conflicts: A Guide for Campus Leaders and Public Safety Personnel.” I encourage those in higher education leadership and campus police/public safety to review this guide as students begin to return to campus. "The Guide is built on the understanding that conflict plays a valuable and necessary role on campuses, and that divergent views, robust discourse, and disagreement can produce new ideas and stronger relationships. The authors have designed this resource to help campuses move disagreements that are inherent to academic life towards peaceful outcomes, regardless of viewpoint." - DOJ.

If you are in New Mexico next week, I encourage you to catch this talk featuring some amazing educators discussing #ruraleducation and #collegeaccess!
Excited to be moderating a conversation on Monday, 1/22, between Dr. Tobe Bott Lyons and Hanna Negishi Levins about their chapter “Urbanormativity, College Access, and Rural First-Generation Students of Color in Northern New Mexico: A Case Study." The chapter is included in the new anthology: Race and Rurality: Considerations for Advancing Higher Education Equity. We don't often talk about rural higher education overtly, let's get that conversation started! Hope to see you there. #SupportLocalBookstores
