World Environment Day Today, 5 June, we recognise World Environment Day. It is a time to reflect on the legacy we are leaving for the generations who follow us. We cannot undo what has happened before or turn back the clock, but we can make the decision today to do better. We can grow trees, revive our water sources, work to make peace with our environment and implement industry practices which bring real, positive benefits. At SKIPZ Recycling, we value our role in the circular economy - diverting construction and demolition waste away from landfill and recycling it into custom engineered building materials. These recycled materials are then channelled into civil construction and public infrastructure projects, reducing reliance on virgin construction materials. If you are interested in learning more about our Resource Recovery and Eco Products visit our website www.skipzrecycling.com.au Let us make a commitment for good – together we can make a healthier planet and brighter future. #generationrestoration #worldenvironmentday2024 #worldenvironmentday2024 #sustainability #sustainable #wastemanagement #skipzrecycling #recycling #takeaction #environmental #constructionwaste #skipbins #skipbinsmelbourne #skipbinsbrisbane #hookbins #marrelbins #recyclingmatters #melbourne #brisbane

Happy World Recycling Day! We are excited to be part of the ACT's Sustainable Business Program - in the area of Waste Management. This great initiative, run by the ACT Government's Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate, helps businesses like ours shrink our waste footprint and become more eco-friendly. Our team is diving headfirst into this program, currently getting trained up on all things office recycling. Once we're waste management wizards, our workspace will be assessed to make sure we're recycling like champions. Here's how we're aiming to make a difference: - Less trash, more cash (well, not literally cash, but you get it): We'll be figuring out ways to throw away less stuff and divert as much as possible from landfills. ️ - Recycling rockstars: We'll be sorting our recycling like nobody's business, making sure everything goes in the right bin and making friends with our local worm farmers to get their help with our scraps. - Spreading the green word: We'll be talking up the importance of recycling within our team and encouraging others to join the sustainability movement! ️ We're aiming to become certified recycling champions, and make a positive impact on Canberra's future. Happy World Recycling Day! Every small action can make a big difference. #ACTBusinessRecycling #SustainableCanberra #CommunicationLink #DoingOurPart 📸 Photo by Jonathan Kemper on Unsplash

New York City's OneNYC (https://lnkd.in/enqdZCHN) is the City's blueprint for the future. It is a re-envisioned plan that focuses on core themes of past city plans—growth, sustainability, and resiliency—and is guided by an additional focus on equity and a regional perspective. It is made up of four visions for the city. Vision 3 is ‘Our Sustainable City’: New York City will be the most sustainable big city in the world and a global leader in the fight against climate change. It outlines zero-waste initiatives along with other sustainable goals. Last year, the Zero Waste Act (https://lnkd.in/eKjJceG3) was passed. It codifies a mandatory residential curbside organics collection program, sets zero-waste targets for 2030, requires annual reporting on zero-waste efforts, creates community food scrap drop-off sites, and establishes community recycling centers in the five boroughs. Follow along with CIRT as we showcase innovative initiatives undertaken by cities, states, and corporations that pave the way toward a more sustainable future. #ZeroWasteNYC #SustainableNYC #EcoFriendlyNYC #GreenNYC #ZeroWasteLifestyle #Sustainability #WasteFreeNYC #UrbanSustainability #NYCSustainability #EcoNYC #ZeroWasteJourney #NYCRecycling #NYCGreen #WasteReduction #SustainableLiving #NYCZeroWaste #GreenLivingNYC #ReduceReuseRecycle #ZeroWasteGoals #SustainableCity #WasteFreeLiving #UrbanGreen #EcoConscious #CleanNYC #SustainableFuture #ZeroWasteCommunity #GreenInitiatives #EcoAwareness

Accelerating the transition to the circular economy | Founder at Circularly, a Certified B Corp | US Associate @ Circle Economy | Continuously Learning
Last Thursday, I had the privilege of moderating the Materials Management & Circularity breakout session at the Hudson Valley Climate Solutions Summit, hosted by Sustainable Hudson Valley! Our session was packed with insightful discussions and valuable contributions from experts working on composting, C&D, recycling, refrigerants, event waste management, repair cafes, textile waste, and broader materials management plans. In just one hour, we brainstormed actionable steps towards realizing a circular economy in the Hudson Valley. Here are some key takeaways: 🔄 Reuse Innovation Center: - Finalize ownership structure and gather key stakeholders (Dave Bennink) to create this center/collective (stoked to continue this conversation Marc Rider)! - Identify funding pathways. - Incorporate workforce training, circularity design training for businesses, and a makerspace/innovation hub. - Collaborate with others in the state (Diane Cohen et al.) to create a statewide network of reuse innovation spaces and win funding together. 📜 Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR): - Push for support at the HV Climate Summit to pass EPR in the special session in July (and to double check if this is on the docket). - Push municipalities to come together to push for this to be passed. - Engage the business community to support this (Bob Rossi & New York Sustainable Business Council maybe room to collaborate here?) - Should we push to have DEC mandate this or explore if it could it be an executive order? 🌱 Composting Mandate: - Use successful city models like the City of Kingston as a roadmap to mandate composting for all communities in NYS. - Find outlets & end markets for compost per community. - Identify infrastructure and human capital needs per community. - Create contamination mitigation strategies and strategic plans to identify intended impact (GHG reduction, money saved, etc.). Big shout out to Marc Rider, Julie Noble, New Yorkers for Cool Refrigerant Management - Michael Helme, Lisa Radhika Kaul, Wren Kingsley, kate schmidt, Joanne Louis-Paul, Emily Hauser, and many more for making this discussion so lively and impactful! And to Melissa Everett, Joanne Louis-Paul, and the entire Sustainable Hudson Valley team for putting this event together! Let's keep pushing forward to make the Hudson Valley a leader in the transition to a just, circular economy! ⭕ #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #ClimateAction #HudsonValley #MaterialsManagement #Reuse #Composting #EPR

Turning heads- one at a time. You don't have to say yes, but if it's caught your eye... now is the time to take a look. Some of the BEST technology has come from overseas- I can only relate to the Vac truck world... but water recyclers, sewer nozzles and camera inspection, the best in the market, ALL came from overseas.... so why can't it be the same for Solid Waste? Simply Put... It CAN. Let me show you how. Or better yet, let me get you in touch with people that have chosen to adopt the "Safety First Design" and hear from them direct. All I can ask is for a chance to see the differences a Dennis Eagle North America Refuse Chassis can make. It's worth a LOOK. #REFUSEtobeORDINARY #BeEXTRODINARY #RWCgroup

We're excited to share that Reground is now a proud partner of Circular Systems! 🙌 Circular Systems is a collaborative effort between Reground, APR Kerbside, and SCRgroup Australia, aimed at revolutionising resource recovery in apartment buildings. Our approach focuses on transparent waste contractor management and resident education to drive lasting changes in waste behavior. When designing our framework, we noticed a few things: 💭 There was little to no transparency on where waste was going once it had been collected. 💭 Many residents had no idea who their waste contractors are and what they were paying for. 💭 Sustainability-conscious residents want to do the right thing, but often residents don't know what materials can and can't be recycled. We’re thrilled to be part of this critical work. Apartment residents have often been overlooked in sustainability efforts, but we’re here to change that. Follow Circular Systems to stay informed on our journey! 👀 #SustainabilityPartnership #CircularSystems
