"Somebody let Ole Henry know I got us from here"
Standing in the hallowed halls of the Henry Ford Piquette Avenue Plant, I was humbled and energized. This is the very birthplace of modern manufacturing, where Henry Ford's revolutionary Model T first rolled off the assembly line. And now, over a century later, I had the profound honor of speaking here about the bright future of American manufacturing - a future built on the pillars of community, equality, and inclusivity.
As a black man leading this new era of industry, I am acutely aware of the poetic justice and historical significance of this moment. Henry Ford, for all his groundbreaking innovations, held deeply racist and anti-semetic views and excluded people who looked like me from even setting foot in this plant. But today, I stand here as a testament to progress, determined to carry the torch forward and light the way for ALL Americans to thrive in this renaissance of manufacturing.
We cannot ignore the shameful parts of our history, but we must learn from them and do better. The very industry Ford built will now become a powerful engine for positive change and shared prosperity. By embracing diversity, investing in our communities, and ensuring equal opportunities, we will unlock the true potential of American manufacturing and uplift the people who were once shut out.
Thank you, Henry Ford, for laying the foundation. But now it is time for us to build something even greater - an industrial renaissance that leaves no one behind. Together, we will show the world how it's supposed to be done, transforming exclusion into empowerment and redefining the very essence of American manufacturing.
