Here’s a great education story: Texas produces the most wind power in the US. The number of jobs in wind energy, in Texas alone, is forecast to grow 83% by 2028. High growth + high demand = students having a great time. Colleges can’t produce graduates fast enough. Texas State Technical College has a “Wind Energy Technology” programme that costs no more than $13,920 for a 1-year associate degree. But it sets students up for: *a near-100% employability rate *a minimum $52,000 entry role on graduation *job offers from companies like GE *before* they graduate A few years in industry and Wind Energy Project Managers earn a median salary of $130,000 😂 What a perfect example of how education can meet the needs of local demand. A great start for students. A stable talent pipeline for business. Top stuff from higher ed.

Asking class participants about their confidence levels before and after taking a class is crucial for assessing learning progress, providing feedback for improvement, validating teaching strategies, boosting motivation and self-efficacy, and identifying gaps in understanding. Last fall, Remote Energy partnered with @Oregon Solar Education Fund (OSEEF) to provide a train-the-trainers course for Oregon experts in the solar industry to get trained as educators so they could teach more solar technicians in Oregon. These teachers reported a large gain in confidence on many topics, with handling questions from students having the largest gain at 37.5%! This practice allows us to gauge the effectiveness of instruction and curriculum, adjust teaching methods accordingly, and provide additional support where needed. By tracking changes in confidence levels, we can promote a reflective approach to teaching and learning, ultimately leading to a more supportive and successful educational experience for participants. #RemoteEnergy #partnership #solar #training

When I first started in recruitment, I partnered with a tonne of companies who needed new hires to have exposure to ENERGY STAR. It was my first glimpse of understanding the need to benchmark buildings, and the importance of this to save energy. And now, ENERGY STAR's Portfolio Manager is getting its largest update in over a decade... To be rolled out over 2024. Why now? This upgrade is supported by funding from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to advance the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from buildings. What's being revamped? 1. Modernized and refreshed user interface. 2. Expanded emissions tracking functionality. 3. Ability to track information for building performance standard (BPS). 4. Refrigerant tracking. 5. RECs tracking. 6. Spanish-language option. Good news for users, right? (Thanks for sharing Patrick Ritchie) #energyconservation #energyefficiency #energystar

The strategic partnership we announced in May between NEMA, National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), and National Electrical Manufacturers Representatives Association (NEMRA) to drive workforce development couldn’t come at a better time. The International Energy Agency (IEA) recently predicted that efforts to boost building energy efficiency will create 1.3 million new jobs by 2030 as we aim for net-zero emissions by 2050. Critical roles such as HVAC installation, energy auditing, insulation, and electricians are in demand, but labor shortages threaten this progress. In the U.S., 83% of energy efficiency employers reported hiring challenges in 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). It’s never been a more important time for industry and government to come together and build the workforce of tomorrow. https://lnkd.in/dpPpbf59
