Tomorrow is February 14th and we all know what that means… Yes, it’s Library Lover’s Day! 💖 There are so many ways in which we consume our books. Some of you will prefer to read your books digitally on your favourite device, some of you will listen to the audio version during the daily commute and many of you will still opt for the traditional hardback or paperback. The physical book that you hold in your hands with that satisfying paper rustle during each turn of the page. 📖 Back in 1832, Britain’s first collection of published books became available to the public. These Gothic Horrors priced at a penny per book. However, this was too high a price to pay for most households. To overcome this obstacle, communities of friends joined together to split the cost - and enjoy these dark, gruesome stories together – these were the first book clubs. Today’s book clubs can be found online, in local communities and in our libraries. Our libraries provide an essential service that provides access to all books (and a wealth of other valuable resources). Making them easy to access for everyone so that we can continue to learn from, escape in, and most importantly - enjoy them. We all have a favourite book. Whether it’s the fiction that helps you escape and relax, a business book that propelled your career or a self-development title that helped you overcome obstacles or excel in another area of your life. To celebrate Library Lover’s Day tomorrow, TELL US YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK in the comments below. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ P.S We support libraries globally with our trusted Spydus library management system ➡️ https://ow.ly/p6sR50QzzJs By connecting libraries via consortia, we also help them share resources and reduce their expenses across regions so they can provide the very best service for their communities. #LibraryLoversDay #Libraries #GovTechChampions
Favourite book? And Then There Were None - love a bit of Agatha Christie. 📓 #LibraryLoversDay
I have read and enjoyed many books but sadly I don’t remember many of them. I always head for any new Ian Rankin Rebus novel and I read the Lord of the Rings multiple times when I was much younger but the book I would say is a favourite, because it was read to me and I read it to my children is Where the Wild Things Are. And now I am off for supper and I hope it is hot!!!
My favourite series is the Bobiverse series by Dennis E Taylor, first three of the series are just great fun Sci-Fi. Most profound and impactful book is The Deluge by Stephen Markley… climate change is going to be truly frightening in the very near future!!
I find it impossible to single out a favourite! Is there anything more indulgent in life that losing yourself for a few hours in a book? I might head to my (beautiful) local library this weekend and check out some of the suggestions on this thread.
Terry pratchett….. just saying
So hard to choose a book but as an avid/obsessive murder mystery fan I would choose Dorothy L Sayers Lord Peter Wimsey books. Perfect golden age detection.
The most gripping book I've read this year is 'Such Men Are Dangerous' by Lawrence Block. I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through.
Got to love the Wheel of Time series!
Ken Follett Pillars of the earth Series, are my favourite at the moment a real good read and teaching me history at the same time. 😀

8moThe Return by Victoria Hislop - l learned more about the Spanish Civil War from this family saga/ love story than any stuffy history book. I am also now a covert to ebooks since I started having trouble with my vision. I miss the feel and smell of a real book but at least I can keep reading on my Kobo by adjusting the size of the print #LibraryLoversDay #Libraries
