In 1937, the Golden Gate Bridge was completed ahead of schedule and under budget ($35M). The 746' tall bridge rests upon two submersed piers weighing 60,000 tons each and is supported by 3' suspension cables, which if unwound, would be long enough to wrap around the world 3.5 times! At the time of the bridges completion, it was the largest bridge in the world (1.7 miles long) and an engineering feat unlike anything before it. The attached video highlights some of the safety innovations the projects Chief Engineer, Joseph Strauss, implemented that enabled his employees to work safer, more effectively, and resulted in the success of the project. This Valentine's Day, let's talk about love in an unexpected place - our construction schedules. 🛠️❤️ .... Yes, you heard right. Let's start a new relationship with our projects in 2024. One where we listen more—to our teams, to our schedules, and to the story our data tells us. It's about finding a path to success that's built on more than just optimism but on realistic, data-informed planning. There's a way forward, and it starts with understanding. 🔗 Read more in Michael Pink's recent article in IRONPROS: https://lnkd.in/eNqjUgFg #ConstructionSchedules #CPMScheduling #ProjectControls

Building confidence by elevating Health & Safety capabilities within your business // HASANZ Registered // ProfNZISM
"𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀" - 𝗔 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻! Yesterday was a remarkable day as part of the 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 1873 project. Working with the team to date has been an amazing experience, but the session led by Aaron Boddington yesterday truly stood out as a prime example of how to positively manage a project. Aaron Boddington has been a disruptor in the best sense of the word, focusing on the importance of people and their voice throughout the project. Instead of the usual scenario where contractors are handed a program and pressured to meet deadlines, Aaron Boddington gathered all contractor teams for a session to discuss the desired program and overlapping duties together as a team. This inclusive approach ensured everyone has the voice to contribute to the plan before it is set in stone. The beauty of yesterday's session was not just in the collaborative planning but also in opportunities it created for contractors to meet each other and discuss various disciplines prior to construction starting and included health and safety playing an integral part of these discussions amongst the team. The piling contractor had insightful discussions with the excavation team; craneage and steel delivery schedules and requirements were discussed with the traffic management contractor; and the window installation requirements was reviewed and discussed with the scaffold provider, just to outline a few. WOW, what a great experience to be part of! The level of engagement and consultation among all parties was extraordinary as can be seen by the colourful "sticky note' wall. This proactive approach has undoubtedly set a new way for how construction projects should be managed. Kudos to Aaron Boddington for being a positive disruptor and leading by example. This experience has reinforced the importance of treating people well and fostering an environment of trust, collaboration and mutual respect. I think every person that was part of the session yesterday would agree on how valuable this session was! Here's to more project like this one! #PositiveDisruptor #Leadership #Trust #Respect #HealthAndSafety
