Proper racing Yesterday was the Daytona 500 (should have been Sunday but Mother Nature had other plans) NASCAR is easily some of the best racing in the world. Dont worry, i can already hear you …….. ‘it’s boring, they are just going round in circles’ and ‘F1 is so much better’. Firstly, even F1 is going round in circles (think about it). Second, go to an F1 race, pay hundreds to sit alongside a small section of the track to see the cars for a few seconds every couple of minutes. At a stock car race, you can see the whole track no matter where you sit (and you don’t need to sell your kids to afford tickets). Finally, considering some of the consultancies you all use, going around in circles shouldn’t be something you complain about as you’ve been paying for that experience for years! Interesting fact - during the race, each driver has a team member standing at the top of the stands with a set of binoculars, talking to them constantly telling them what’s happening around them. Have you ever experienced the thrill of a NASCAR race? If not, it's an event that should be on everyone's bucket list. The sound of 40 800 horsepower machines racing at 150+ miles per hour is simply thunderous. The vibrating speed and smell of fuel make it a multi-sensory experience like no other. 🔴 NEWS: Mercedes‘ trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin explained the reason for the call to George Russell to retire his car from the British Grand Prix. Russell retired from the race after taking pole on Saturday. According to Shovlin, Russell‘s DNF was caused due to a water leak. This issue has been traced since the first stint and made a run to the chequered flag for Russell impossible. 🗣️ “Unfortunately we knew that we had an issue relatively early in the race, so we were tracking this from the first stint,” Shovlin explained. “We didn’t know that it was going to be terminal, but it’s all linked to a leak that was in the water system.” The retirement was also done to protect Russell‘s power unit. Mercedes didn’t want to finish the race but destroy the PU at the same time.
