Today we pay tribute to all military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Thank you for your service. 19.5 million – the approximate number of veterans in the United States. 9 million – the number of veterans over the age of 65. 5.06 million – the number of veterans receiving disability compensation. 2 million – the number of female veterans of those receiving disability compensation. 500k – the number of World War II veterans still living in the United States. 1.56 million – the number of veterans in California, the highest number in the country. 1.46 million – the number of veterans in Texas, the second-highest number in the country. 11% – the percentage of veterans who experience homelessness. 50% – the percentage of veterans experiencing homelessness who also live with a mental illness like PTSD.

Instead, #CaseManagers meet with clients one-on-one for as long as they need. 💙 We run an online resource database, PATRIOTlink® (think Google, but the #COSF version), for veteran and military families to find resources specific to geographic location or need. 🤍 Each of our Case Managers has either served directly in the military, is a #militaryspouse, is a #veterancaregiver, or all three. DOD Launches New Landing Page to Celebrate National Veterans and Military Families Month Nov. 2, 2023 This November, the Defense Department is launching a 2023 National Veterans and Military Families Month landing page on Military OneSource. The new, easily-accessible page is part of the Department's recognition of the national observance month, which celebrates the sacrifices and contributions of service members, veterans and military families. The page displays a wide range of resources and support for military families and transitioning veterans, signaling the Department's priority to take care of service members and families, officials stated. Page features include information about: Parenting Adoption and foster care Relationships Caring for a family member with special needs Resources for gold star and surviving family members  Financial support  Spouse employment Consultations for transitioning veterans  "Our nation's service members and transitioning veterans do not – and did not – serve alone. Alongside them are the dedicated members of their families, whose commitment and resolve strengthen our nation," said Patricia Montes Barron, deputy assistant secretary of defense for Military Community and Family Policy. "We are committed to taking care of our service members and their families just as our military families take care of those who serve, and as our veterans have cared for us through their service to our country."
