Seamless integration of third-party packages is essential for smooth operations, and properly managing interface signals plays a key role. Here are some important signals to consider: • Remote Start: Pulsed, normally open, sent to the third-party package to initiate equipment. • Remote Stop: Maintained, normally closed, used to stop equipment. • Equipment Operable: Continuous signal from the third-party package, indicating the control panel and equipment are ready to operate. • Running Signal: Confirms that equipment is functioning properly. • Common Alarm: Alerts of any process disturbances or faults. • Time Synchronization: Ensuring alignment with DCS/PLC if needed. Clear signal definitions in early stages of 3rd party system integration would save alot of time for both parties , the client and the 3rd party vendor.

Nighil Sajeev, thanks for sharing this thread. The wiring shown in the share picture looks incorrect, there should be one connection going to Common terminal carrying the control voltage. For any Safety/F&G/ESD System, an important feature is Line monitoring, and there are two purposes of this feature. 1. Wire Break: To get information on integrity of the line/wire from the DI module upto the Switch/Detector/Sensor, so that you get an alarm of the wire is broken 2. Short Circuit: To get information on short circuit and avoid false signals. When it is in normal condition, pressure switch contacts are closed. and the DI cards sense the resistance R1. When it is alarm condition, pressure switch contacts are open and the DI cards sense the resistance R1+R2. In Wire break condition, it becomes open loop and the DI card sense Infinite resistance. In Short circuit condition, the loop resistance becomes 0 and hence Short circuit is detected instead of false alarm. The Circuit is shown in the comment is for your reference. the resistance value depends on the DI card in use, in several Safety DI cards, these resistance values are settable.

SCADA OVERVIEW: 1. The gas wellheads are monitored and controlled via remote terminal units (RTU) with two independent safety trip amplifiers (STA) for overpressure protection and one additional STA for the SIF layer (safety integrity level). 2. The term used for the Well Head System is called Wellhead CM&&OPPS. 3. The Communication Protocol is Open Industry Standard (OPC) and Domain Name Protocol 3 or DNP3 over TCP/IP; the SCADA system polls the I/O point once every minute. 4. Each I/O point has a Dynamic Dead band setting of 1.0 % for Temperature or Pressure and Engineering Unit for the others. 5. When an event occurs, an event record with an actual timestamp is set within the SCADA system irrespective of Polling Status. 6. The Event occurrence is a First Out Event, indicating Tag, Critically, Status, and with a Timestamp. 7. An industrial Switch provides a Redundant Communications Interface to the SCADA Host. 8. In the event of a transmission break, the RTUs will store and upload the Data once Communications are restored.
