Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the most pressing global health challenges of our time, threatening to undermine decades of progress in medicine. As bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites grow resistant to treatments, common infections risk becoming untreatable—leading to prolonged illnesses, higher health care costs, and increased mortality. This World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, I am proud to #GoBlueForAMR to spotlight this growing crisis and the urgent need for collective action. The 2024 theme, Educate. Advocate. Act now., calls for stronger awareness, bold commitments, and immediate action to combat #AMR and its far-reaching impacts on health, food security, and the environment. Let’s commit to safeguarding the future of global health: ✔️ Use antibiotics responsibly. ✔️ Advocate for sustainable AMR policies. ✔️ Educate communities to prevent the spread of infections. Join the movement this #WAAW. 🌍 PATH Dr. Tikesh Bisen Dr. Swati Mahajan Tavpritesh Sethi MBBS, PhD The Trinity Challenge World Health Organization

World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2024. Educate. Advocate. Act Now Track AMR Country Self-Assessment Survey from below link https://lnkd.in/gHvq_tez #antimicrobial #AMR #WHO #health #hygiene #safety Key Facts from World Health Organization 1. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the top global public health and development threats. It is estimated that bacterial AMR was directly responsible for 1.27 million global deaths in 2019 and contributed to 4.95 million deaths. 2. The misuse and overuse of antimicrobials in humans, animals and plants are the main drivers in the development of drug-resistant pathogens. 3. AMR affects countries in all regions and at all income levels. Its drivers and consequences are exacerbated by poverty and inequality, and low- and middle-income countries are most affected. 4. AMR puts many of the gains of modern medicine at risk. It makes infections harder to treat and makes other medical procedures and treatments – such as surgery, caesarean sections and cancer chemotherapy – much riskier. 5. The world faces an antibiotics pipeline and access crisis. There is an inadequate research and development pipeline in the face of rising levels of resistance, and urgent need for additional measures to ensure equitable access to new and existing vaccines, diagnostics and medicines. 6. In addition to death and disability, AMR has significant economic costs. The World Bank estimates that AMR could result in US$ 1 trillion additional healthcare costs by 2050, and US$ 1 trillion to US$ 3.4 trillion gross domestic product (GDP) losses per year by 2030. 7. Priorities to address AMR in human health include preventing all infections, which may result in inappropriate use of antimicrobials; ensuring universal access to quality diagnosis and appropriate treatment of infections; and strategic information and innovation, for example surveillance of AMR and antimicrobial consumption/use, and research and development for novel vaccines, diagnostics and medicines. As World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2024 begins (#WAAW2024), we are joining the global conversation and supporting this year's theme: Educate. Advocate. Act Now. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) occurs when bacteria mutate to outsmart antibacterial agents, including antibiotics, leading to more severe infections and higher mortality rates. At EVŌQ Nano, we are helping raise awareness through our educational infographic depicting a common trigger of AMR and highlighting EVQ-218’s novel mechanism of action. Join us in making an impact against this pressing global health threat. #FightAMR View our full infographic here: https://lnkd.in/dkW7vMCb #Superbugs #AMR #AntimicrobialReseistance #GoBlue #Educate #Advocate #ActNow

Educate. Advocate. Act Now. Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is a growing global crisis. It occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites become resistant to antimicrobial agents, making infections harder, or even impossible, to treat. This results in higher risks of disease spread, severe illness, and death. During World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) 2024 (18-24 November), we join forces to raise awareness and promote best practices across all sectors—human, animal, plant, and environmental health. The 2024 UNGA High-level Meeting and the fourth Global High-Level Ministerial Conference on AMR provide critical opportunities for political and financial commitments to fight AMR. Stronger leadership, advocacy, and accountability are needed across the globe, and the window to make change is closing fast. Let’s raise our voices and take action to protect public health and safeguard the future of antibiotics! Together, we can make a difference. #FightAMR #AntibioticResistance #GlobalHealth #FoodSecurity #SustainableFuture DAI Mott MacDonald Qadeer Ahsan Diana T. Arsalan Ali F. Ingrida Skarinke
