Somebody needs to read this! One of my brothers sent me an Instagram Post last night that has Seven Rules of Engagement. These two jumped out at me: 👉🏽Try to be nice always and impact positively on people in life. What goes around comes around. The measure of values you give to people somehow gets back to you. So be nice! 👉🏽Never force yourself to be accepted by people. When they don't want you around, it means they don't know your worth and value. If the number of people that like you are bigger than the ones that hate you, then it's a past mark! Bear these 'rules' in mind, especially the latter one, as you interact with people, as you research companies and attend interviews for job opportunities. Amidst all the negative stories (ghosting, standups for interviews) in this crazy job market, I thought it would be encouraging to share a positive story. I have a family emergency this week. (Not the positive part.) I also was supposed to interview for a dream position, one that I did not want to risk losing my shot at. Despite my nerves, I opened up to the company about what was going on. The company accommodated and agreed to move my interview back despite their aggressive timeline, reflecting their priorities and making me even more enthusiastic for the position. I could not be more grateful for one less thing to worry about this week. Other companies: take note. A positive culture starts before employees even join the company. #JobSearch

My advice, after nearly 15 years of being on the talent train and seeing the market go through so many changes: take your chance and just apply for the role. Whether it's an internal or external opportunity, an application and interview process is so much more than securing a new position. When you put yourself out there, you: - Make new connections - Get your intention out to the universe - Challenge your self-perception - Build your confidence - Reflect on your own career - Remember what's it's like to be on the candidate side of it all And most of all, you are guaranteed to learn something about yourself - that is ALWAYS worth the risk. #talent #talentacquisition #careerdevelopment

Sometimes, the job search process can surprise you. Recently, I went through multiple interviews for a role where the compensation was lower than my past experiences, but I was excited to give it a shot. I had some great conversations with the team, toured the facility, and gave it my all. While I wasn’t selected in the end, the experience reminded me of how important it is to keep pushing forward and not get discouraged. Every interview is a chance to learn, grow, and refine your approach. It’s also a reminder that sometimes, things don’t work out because there’s something even better on the horizon. Today I had my second interview with a company after the initial one. It was thrilling to delve deeper into the role's potential projects. Now that sounds more like an answer to a grilling question but the most important part is your preparation not just to face the heat but the study about the company you applied for. Look out for the areas and roles where you could be the job fit, perfectly fitting the bill, also what's different you are going to bring on the platter. Avoid making tall claims , be honest and study your strengths well.
