Clarion Housing Group’s Post

To announce the launch of the sixth William Sutton Prize and mark our 125th anniversary, the Prize pot has been increased to £125,000, which will be awarded to ideas and innovations that transform the lives of social housing residents. The £125,000 fund will be split between the winners of two categories, focusing on Sustainability and Connected Communities. Our Chief Executive, Clare Miller, said: “Kickstarting our 125th year anniversary celebrations, this year’s Prize is our most ambitious to date, and we are delighted to be able to increase the value of the funding thanks to the support of our partners.” Applications for The William Sutton Prize are now open. https://bit.ly/3PKDOta #Sustainability #Innovation #Funding #WilliamSuttonPrize #Clarion125 #ConnectedCommunities #SocialHousing

May I suggest the following: 1) Preventative maintenance on estates, including regularly clearing gutters and rainwater hoppers every 6-12 months, rather than waiting for them to overflow and cause damage. This is cheaper in the long term and causes less pain and damage. 2) When booking a cherry picker to clear the gutters on one building on an estate, consider using it to clear them on all of the buildings. That way making better use of the resource. 3) When purchasing items such as bollards, not buying the absolute cheapest, especially where it it likely to be damaged within days of installation. Paying a little more, can mean something lasts longer and is therefore cheaper in the long run. All of the above are what Clarion does NOT do now.
