#Slow_Learner When students scoring low are termed as slow learners, it is injustice. Called as slow learners, such students get demoralised and rarely they become so called fast learners. Marks obtained have no direct relationship with talent and skills of a student. Committee members coming for NAAC accreditation, often ask for systems to deal with slow learners and institutions remain ready with their SOPs for such students. The reason why some students don’t score as good marks as expected can be many but in my opinion, prominent are twi: a) classes of fixed duration and b) limit on number of students in a class. Teacher must not leave class unless all of them have understood. Plus, a large number of students learn from each other and by catching up with their peers in a class. My experience is that so called slow students run fast when they are in competition. This student:teacher ratio is a wrong criteria to define quality of education. If more students in a class and teacher creates competitive ecosystem, there will be no slow learners. This is how education was delivered in Ashrams; Acharyas focused more on learning than on teaching. Regards.
