India’s renewable energy journey is setting a #benchmark for other emerging economies, as highlighted by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi. With a current #solarphotovoltaic (PV) capacity of 85.47 GW and wind power at 46.65 GW, the country is progressing rapidly towards its goal of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030. Backed by robust policies and international partnerships, including the International Solar Alliance, India is inspiring nations worldwide. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently emphasized India's #achievement of fulfilling its Paris Climate Summit #commitments ahead of schedule. To support its #renewableenergy vision, the government has introduced 100% FDI under the automatic route for greenfield projects, positioning the nation as an attractive destination for global #investment India’s renewable energy journey is more than just a national endeavor; it’s a global inspiration toward achieving net-zero emissions by 2070. #renewables #solar #india #greenenergy #sustainability #netzero #cleanenergy #solarpowered #solarpower #solarinstallation #wind

In a significant stride towards achieving India's renewable energy ambitions, the Ministry of Power has issued a directive to all states and union territories. The directive emphasizes the implementation of amended electricity rules aimed at promoting green energy open access. Entities with a contracted demand or sanctioned load of 100 kW or above are now eligible for green energy open access. This opens up avenues for facilitating the consumption of renewable energy and aligning operations with sustainable practices. Let's embrace this opportunity to drive positive change and propel India towards a cleaner, greener future! #RenewableEnergy #GreenEnergy #Sustainability #India #CleanEnergy #PowerSector #EnergyTransition #SEPA

Empowering India’s Renewable Energy Transition: Navigating RPO Mandates And Spatial Variability – Niti Aayog Report 2024 India has recently reaffirmed its commitment to combat climate change by unveiling updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and submitting a Long-Term Low Carbon Development Strategy. These initiatives underscore India’s pursuit of resilient, inclusive, and sustainable growth. The Ministry of Power (MoP) has also taken significant steps in this direction by issuing a trajectory of Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPOs) until 2030. Under the trajectory outlined by MoP, obligated entities, primarily DISCOMs, are mandated to procure a minimum percentage of electricity from Renewable Energy (RE) sources, starting from 24.3% in 2023 and escalating to 43.3% by 2030. These obligations align with the […] Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/dam9hUSK #solarenergy #alternativeenergy #solarpv #pvsolar #photovoltaic #cleanenergy #cleantech #climatechange #middleeast #africa #india #asiapacific #asia #india #marketresearch #nitiaayog #renewablepurchaseobligation(rpo) #renewableenergy #solarenergy

Recently, while working on a report related to my coursework, I stumbled upon some interesting insights on the Energy Transition. The path to achieving Netzero targets will require investments of unprecedented scale in the upcoming years. For instance, India's transition to renewable energy will demand substantial investments, with an estimated $350-400 billion annual investment needed by 2047 to meet its clean energy ambitions. This is a significant undertaking, but one that is necessary for a sustainable future. This underscores the necessity of developing technologies that enable a more cost-effective approach to achieving energy transition. https://lnkd.in/dAK-r5DK #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #NetZero #Sustainability #energyindustry #energyefficiency

India's Renewable Energy Market Soars but Hurdles Remain ️ Great news for India's clean energy future! A record 69GW of utility-scale renewable energy bids were submitted in FY2024, exceeding the government's ambitious target of 50GW [IEEFA, JMK Research]. This growth is fueled by market potential, supportive policies, and attractive margins. However, the report also identifies challenges in translating these bids into operational projects. High import duties (40%) and local content mandates, aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing, are driving up costs and delaying project timelines. Unfortunately, current domestic production can't compete with import prices or meet the rapidly growing demand. #renewableenergy #India #cleantech #sustainability #infrastructure #manufacturing #solar #wind #SouthAsia #Asia https://flip.it/pGRihV
