What’s your ‘why’?: An Inside Look at RAD's L&D Connect Day Last week’s Connect Thursday at RAD brought a unique perspective to our community. Enes Mece led us through a short, yet very impactful session, challenging us to step out of our comfort zones. He began the session by highlighting the importance of our personal space: our most valuable real estate. Encouraging everyone to stand up, extend their arms, and rotate in a circle served as a tangible representation of the power of owning your space. And just like that, we were captivated. The dynamic session encouraged critical thinking, collaboration, and a focus on individual well-being before extending support to others. Enes reminded us that community involvement starts with self-discovery — identifying our passions and strengths. Aligning these elements, like a life Venn diagram, unveils our unique gift to the world. However, defining the ‘how’ is crucial for genuine change. Enes left us with three practical tips: 1. Seek input from friends/colleagues on your strengths and areas they'd seek your advice. 2. Use your passions and strengths to support local initiatives or institutions that already have ongoing projects in the community. 3. Start small, but stay persistent - endurance is the key to success. Enes’ inspiration has already encouraged us at RAD to explore ways we can implement our 'why' and contribute within our London and Lisbon communities. In a world where sympathy often overshadows action, one might say, “Less pity, more ramps.” This quote resonates deeply, reminding us that while it's easy to feel sorry for someone facing challenges, it’s far more impactful to create solutions that empower them. Imagine if we spent as much time building ramps as we do discussing the hurdles. It’s like complaining about the weather while standing under a leaky umbrella—pointless and a bit soggy! So, let’s trade our pity parties for some productive gatherings. After all, who needs a pity parade when you can have a ramp-raising celebration? Building bridges (or ramps) not only uplifts others but also enriches our own lives. In the end, it’s about fostering a community where everyone can rise together—preferably without tripping over the pity. 🧑🤝🧑THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN😁 Yesterday I was in the historic City of York, with an ex colleague (last worked together in 2007😱) but very good friend, Marco Rombi. Two International Commercial Powerhouses 🤣🤣🤣 OR little and large as we have been referred to. Have a guess what the topic of conversation was..... ✅ FAMILY - obvs 🤔 POLITICS - a little ✅ VALUES - always ✅ VISION AND FUTURE - Mais Oui To be fair we're like two excited school boys whenever we get together because there are always loads of fascinating ideas to discuss. Yesterday was no different and we've got some very interesting projects to flesh out, so watch this space...... SIMPLY PUT We're pretty good on our own👍 BUT I'd say we're quite unstoppable when we partner up. Looking forward to sharing what we came up with. Sometimes a simple walk with a friend can reinvigorate your thinking.
