From D1 & D2 Athlete to Student-Athlete Success at Grambling State | Empowering Student-Athletes to Achieve Excellence
Summer Training Can Make or Break Your Fall Season For me, summer training meant playing as much as I could to maintain sharpness and fitness. It was tough but rewarding, pushing me to level up every day. Establishing a goal for your summer training is vital. It gives you direction and helps you navigate the steps needed to achieve your goals by the time the fall preseason begins. After my junior year, my summer goal was to bulk up to be stronger on the field and develop my skills as a target man forward. To achieve this, I knew I needed to take the gym more seriously. I trained with our strength and conditioning coach 5 days a week, worked on agility training with our coaches, and did individual ball training. That summer, I went from 178 to 185 pounds, started our first preseason game, and scored. Goal setting and discipline are essential for all student-athletes. How badly do you want to play? How hungry are you to win? View your goal as a series of daily tasks leading to the ultimate reward. Student Athletes: Create an environment that breeds discipline, develops steps to achievement, and win! #ChatZDP #NCAA #studentathletes #discipline #goalsetting #summertraining #summerworkshops

"Scoring High in Both Sports and Academics As a student-athlete, you know that balancing your passion for sports with your academic goals can be challenging. But did you know that participating in sports can actually improve your academic performance? Research shows that student-athletes tend to have better grades, attendance, and academic motivation than non-athletes. Plus, the skills you develop on the field - like teamwork, discipline, and time management - can also help you succeed in the classroom. Did you know today is International Day of Education? The sixth International Day of Education will be celebrated on 24 January 2024 under the theme “learning for lasting peace”. The world is seeing a surge of violent conflicts paralleled by an alarming rise of discrimination, racism, xenophobia, and hate speech. The impact of this violence transcends any boundary based on geography, gender, race, religion, politics, offline and online. An active commitment to peace is more urgent today than ever. Learning for peace must be transformative, and help empower learners with the necessary knowledge, values, attitudes and skills and behaviours to become agents of peace in their communities. Our Gymnastics Coaching Community are key to educating our members on the importance of movement, RGA are key to educating our coaching and our centres are key to bringing communities together for the common good of movement.

1moThanks for sharing Classroom Champions! I loved reading about the group of 5th and 6th graders who challenged Sakura Kokumai to a push-up contest. It's a wonderful example of how you're helping youth to think big.
