I'm interested to know how many people out there have worked with a recruiter as a candidate where you felt looked after and properly represented - or whether there was minimal contact and the whole experience was underwhelming? How can you ensure you are dealing with a recruiter who has a consultative approach vs a transactional one? Its relatively simple. If the questions fired at you are all about the job and what it requires and there's very few questions around where you're at and what you want and are are looking for, then your dealing with a transactional recruiter. They only care about filling the job and pay little attention to cultural fit. A consultative recruiter is someone who takes the time to get to know you and is interested in understanding what you're open to first and foremost, and where you want to be in 3-4 years. I am regularly surprised at how many candidates are guarded and somewhat cautious when contacted because of their previous experience. Its such a shame because our purpose is to help people which is what we aim to do here at PPD....not try and fit a square peg into a round hole. Can you relate? The day my client asked me what I enjoy most about my job... As a recruiter, I get asked a lot what I enjoy most about my job. And honestly, there are so many things - interacting with clients and candidates, traveling, speaking multiple languages - the list goes on... But when a client recently asked me this question. ➡️Client: "Patrick, what do you enjoy most about your job?" ➡️Me (replying quite spontaneously): "Sending you my invoice! What else?" ...And you know what? My client laughed out loud and thanked me for my sincerity and humour 😂 ✅At the end of the day, the reward for the candidate is finding a great new position where she/he can thrive. ✅The reward for the client is finding a great profile that matches their expectations to help the company grow. ✅And the reward for the agency, beyond making both client and candidate happy, is getting paid for our service and expertise.
