By 2026, the HBCU Transformation Project hopes to support a positive change in life trajectories for 22,000 Black Americans. Education is a key driver of social and economic mobility in the US. But opportunities for higher education haven’t always been accessible for all Americans— particularly for Black, Latinx, and low-income communities — because of systemic racism and other barriers. By supporting and expanding inclusive, accessible pathways to higher education, we move the needle toward a more equitable future. Our collaboration with Thurgood Marshall College Fund, UNCF, and Partnership for Education Advancement aims to strengthen operations, fundraising, performance management, and technology infrastructure at 40 participating HBCUs, with an end goal of maximizing their potential impact and the ripple effects of their successes within surrounding Black communities. https://lnkd.in/d72AY9AM

Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have long been heralded for providing world-class education and shaping the trajectory of accomplished individuals across diverse fields. In a significant collaboration, Walmart, one of the nation's largest retailers, joins forces with BET's HBCU initiative to launch "An HBCU Made Me." This collaborative initiative aims to amplify the importance and impact of lesser-known HBCUs by spotlighting the inspiring stories of notable alumni. Through "An HBCU Made Me," Walmart and BET offer a unique glimpse into the HBCU student experience and the transformative journey these individuals have undertaken on their paths to careers with Black & Unlimited potential. Hey y’all— if you attended a PWI or as I learned most recently it is now being referred to as a HWI (Historically White Institution) and you were either a part of the Black Student Union or your school (undergrad or graduate) offered a Black Grad Ceremony please chime and let me know: 1. Your perspective on being able to take part in a separate ceremony for Black graduates in addition to the school wide commencement; 2. If you know of any private HWI/PWI’s in the DC area that have Black graduate ceremonies. If you do not identify as Black would love to learn more on your perspective as well if HWI’s should have Black graduate ceremonies.

Our 3 overarching principles at BPPC: 2. Mentorship 🤝🏾 We believe in building a network of Black mentors for Pharmacy students and Pharmacy professionals to benefit from. Creating a supportive network of Black Pharmacy professionals who can guide, lead and support other colleagues and students.

Based on a still-climbing number of reactions, this post touched a nerve. The full article estimated that in Nov. 1958 there were at least 100 Black licensed architects out of a national total of 20,000 (.5%). More than half of those Black architects were HBCU school grads, mainly Howard (the only accredited HBCU program then), with a few from Hampton and Tuskegee). From 1940 to 1990s HBCU-based programs were key cogs in the supply chain producing Black licensed architects, many of whom went on to found entrepreneurial practices. Had those ratios and numbers held through to now, Black licensure and numbers of Black-owned practices would look very different. Properly resourced and repurposed, the HBCU-based accredited programs can get back to those earlier ratios over the next decade.
