Carbon fibre composite fuselages might seem like an innovative and 'green' option now - with the Dreamliner's use of “nearly half carbon fibre reinforced plastic and other composites” contributing to a weight saving of 20% (and associated reduced fuel burn). However, a recent chat with Air Salvage International highlighted the current complexities with recycling this problematic material, with current options entailing either incineration or landfill.
