Governor Tina Kotek, Senator Ron Wyden, and leaders in the public and private sectors released the Clean Technology Manufacturing Task Force Report, outlining a strategy to capitalize on the growing clean energy technology sector. Formed in 2024, the Task Force brought together leaders from the public and private sectors to develop recommendations aimed at positioning Oregon as a leading hub for clean energy innovation and manufacturing. The report emphasizes the need for competitive incentive packages, improved industrial land readiness, and the development of clean energy transmission infrastructure. With strong leadership and coordinated action, Oregon has the potential to become a national leader in clean energy manufacturing, fostering innovation, job creation, and economic prosperity across the state. 🌱 Unlocking the #Power of #Partnerships : Today, the BayWa r.e. team in the Americas, in collaboration with the Santa Barbara County board of supervisors, government officials, regulating agencies, the local community, and non-profit organizations, celebrated a significant milestone: the completion of the Strauss Wind Energy Farm, California's first wind farm on the coast. Together, we've created shared value to enhance energy resilience for the Lompoc area and Santa Barbara County, powering homes and businesses alike. The event provided a visual testament to what can be achieved when we work together, with wind turbines now in action, contributing renewable energy to the grid. 🏞️ Nestled southwest of Lompoc, the Strauss Wind Energy Farm stands as a groundbreaking initiative led by our BayWa r.e. Wind group. With the capability to power around 36,000 homes, this project marks a significant stride in California's shift towards renewable energy. The ideal topography of Strauss, recent Commercial Operation Date (COD) achievement, and collaborative partnerships highlight its significance in advancing a cleaner future in America. 💼 Moreover, the Strauss Wind Energy Farm is not just about renewable energy; it's about creating economic opportunities. By providing jobs and contributing to the county's budget with property taxes, we're investing directly in Santa Barbara County's future. This revenue can be allocated to essential services and infrastructure, further enhancing the well-being of the local community. Today is the (lucky) 13th anniversary of one of the greatest projects I've ever had the privilege to be part of - the 144-panel solar thermal project atop the Saint Paul RiverCentre. So celebrating with a little look back and a BIG thank you to the partners that made this possible - Kate S., Bill Huepenbecker, Jim Giebel, Anne Hunt, Chris Coleman, Brian Ross, Stacy Miller, Kathy Ross Pavek, Jora Bart, Anders Rydaker, Ken Smith, Bjorn Gangeness, Ray Watts, Jeff Volovsek, Joe Lucas, Jason Coughlin, and the teams from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (Solar America Cities), TKDA, Pioneer Power, Sheehy Construction Company, and Arcon Solar. And bonus shout outs to any other team members from Ever-Green Energy that made that project a reality. This was a first-of-its-kind project in the U.S. and where I cut my teeth understanding how difficult it is to be the first with emerging technology at this type of scale. Spoiler alert - it's hard. But that list of partners above is how we made it happen. It's why the Grid Catalyst program is built on a similar partnership model. And it's why some of you may have seen the project poster, designed by AlyssA Greening, behind me in a Zoom meeting. In New York, state policymakers have recently instituted a new Index Storage Credit structure for large-scale batteries that could provide more financial certainty to goose the deployment of 3 gigawatts, or 12 gigawatt-hours, of projects through 2030. We finally know how states decide how clean energy gets built! A big team of brilliant collaborators just published the first-ever roundup of clean energy siting policies in all fifty states plus Puerto Rico. Some points that caught my eye: 👉 Holy cow, there's a lot of diversity in how states site clean energy.   👉 Some states had processes so opaque even this esteemed group of National Lab, regulation specialists, industry groups, and nonprofits couldn't find or make sense of it   👉 Nonprofits and others have made lots of resources available to help state and local officials with their siting responsibilities (and lots are linked in the report!)   👉 We have lots of work to do to see which of these policy frameworks is working and why so we can help other states and local officials improve their processes Great job Ben Hoen, Nelson Falkenburg,  Raphael Tisch, Kendra Kostek, Shawn Enterline, Andrew Valainis, and all the rest who contributed to this excellent report!
