Q3 2023 saw a remarkable 35% year-over-year increase, adding 6.5 GW of new electric generating capacity. Despite economic challenges, solar remains the fastest-growing energy source, reinforcing the need for regulatory modernization. As federal clean energy policies gain traction, the forecasted record of 33 GW solar capacity additions in 2023 sets the stage for solar to become the largest source of generating capacity on the U.S. grid by 2050. #SolarPower #CleanEnergy #SEIA #netzero2050

What resources are being added to the electricity grid? More solar than ever, making up more than half of new grid interconnections in the US. “According to the U.S. Solar Market Insight, Year-in-Review 2023 by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and Wood Mackenzie, this is the first time in 80 years that a renewable electricity source has accounted for over 50% of annual capacity additions.” To stabilize and distribute this new solar capacity, #batteries are needed to store excess electricity when the sun is shining, and then dispatch it later. Batteries are the key to energy stability in a renewables-rich grid mix. #SolarEnergy #GridStability #GridMix

Seventy years ago, Daryl Chapin, Calvin Fuller, and Gerald Pearson created the first silicon solar cell right across the water in Murray Hill, NJ, establishing the beginning of a cleaner future for America. Since its dawning, America has continued innovating, driving efficiencies and lowering barriers to increased solar adoption nationwide. Today, solar energy accounts for over 50% of new electricity generation capacity, hosting over 180 gigawatts and employing upwards of 300,000 within the workforce. With a rich history and industry powerhouse continuing to blaze alongside other growing clean energy avenues, such as energy storage, solar energy makes its 50 anniversary in 2024, championing countless policies and initiatives to establish the multi-billion-dollar solar and storage industry we know today. Brightcore is proud to support the fastest-growing sector of the energy industry, helping to deliver realized economic opportunities across the buildings we work and play in, as well as a more resilient and reliable grid. The key states driving the US solar power boom #California has long been the dominant player in the U.S. #solar sector, but its share of national solar #electricity output has fallen from 100% in 2003 to under 30% last year, data from the U.S. #Energy Information Administration (EIA) shows. That rapid drop in California's solar #power share reveals that other states have now built up substantial solar capacity #footprints of their own, and are helping to drive the country's ongoing efforts to replace #fossilfuels with cleaner energy. https://lnkd.in/euQfCf-Y
