Diamond polished concrete flooring – or DPC to its friends – is made by laying a fresh concrete slab and then diamond polishing back the surface to expose the aggregate within. As well as creating an incredible raw industrial finish with unique eye-catching texture, it’s highly versatile and durable enough to last the lifetime of pretty much any building. But is it right for your project? Here are the essentials you need to know. Once finished, DPC ends up around 75-100mm thick, so if your available surface area is shallower than that DPC definitely isn’t for you. Don’t panic though, Terrazzo flooring has a much slimmer profile – just 20-40mm – so maybe take a look at that instead. DPC is very happy being laid over underfloor heating, and because we use local materials on every project each one we lay is slightly different. This uniqueness gives it a lot of character, but it means that you don’t have full control over the background colour of either the concrete or aggregate. You can choose the level of aggregate exposure that you want, though – ranging from very fine and subtle all the way through to serious chunks of structural aggregate. We sat down with Sales Manager Ben Young to get the low down on all the key details. From colour specification to aggregate distribution and our finely-tuned installation process, we’ve got your questions answered!

Which is more wear-resistant, emery or concrete sealer? Diamond wear-resistant flooring Advantages: -Increases the wear resistance, impact resistance and strength of the floor. -Life expectancy of about 10 years. -Surface is flat and smooth, and can be configured with a variety of colors. -Not affected in dark and humid environment. -Lower cost. Concrete Sealer Floor Advantages: -High abrasion resistance of 6.3 or more. -Improve the compactness and strength of concrete, prevent dust precipitation. -Makes the floor with marble-like luster, the more it is used, the brighter it is. -Enhance the performance of impermeability, abrasion resistance and hardness, and the service life can reach 20 years. -Suitable for new and old floors, with a wide range of applications. Comparison Conclusion Abrasion resistance: Concrete sealer flooring is slightly better than diamond sand wear-resistant flooring. -Service life: Concrete sealing curing agent flooring is longer. -Scope of application: Concrete sealing curing agent flooring is wider. -Comprehensive performance: the combination of the two construction can give full play to their respective advantages, forming a high wear-resistant, beautiful and durable flooring. Summarize: diamond wear-resistant flooring and concrete sealing curing agent flooring in the abrasion resistance is not much difference, but the concrete sealing curing agent flooring in the service life and the scope of application is more advantageous.
