Climate Tech Incubator Kick-Off Event: A Resounding Success! We are thrilled to announce the successful launch of our Climate Tech Incubator! Our kick-off event was an incredible gathering of entrepreneurs, politicians, startups, corporates, and investors, all united by a common goal: To drive innovation and create a sustainable future. Highlights from the Event: ⚡ Speaker Highlights: Bradway Widing reminded us of the urgency with "There is no Planet B" as we discussed the critical role of clean tech in shaping our future. Lord Mayor Michael Mainelli emphasised that "Londoners will thrive when collaborating on green issues." Community Opening: We officially launched our community of climate tech pioneers, committed to shaping a more sustainable future right here in Britain. This milestone was symbolized by the ribbon-cutting ceremony with Stephen Cowen, Councillor of Hammersmith, and Anita Yuen from The Earthshot Prize. Innovative Solutions: Our network will support UK entrepreneurs in advancing groundbreaking climate tech innovations. A heartfelt thank you to all our stakeholders and attendees, your support made this event a tremendous success. Our community thrives on the passion and dedication of individuals like you, and together, we are paving the way for a greener tomorrow. We are very excited for the mission ahead: to lay the foundation for revolutionary advancements. We have two exciting updates to share: Since its launch last September, the Georgia Cleantech Innovation Hub (GACIH) initiative has gained significant traction.  Because of its success and growing presence in the community, the Greenhouse Accelerator is officially changing its name to the Georgia Cleantech Innovation Hub. While maintaining a strong connection to its roots as the Greenhouse Accelerator, this new identity aligns with the expanded mission to grow – collaboratively with our many partners - a community of startups, innovators and entrepreneurs at the forefront of the growth industries of an inclusive cleantech economy in Georgia for decades to come. Second, to accelerate our progress – we hired our first full time employee, Andy Marshall, as our new Executive Director.  Andy brings over a decade of experience in cleantech innovation from the start-up to the corporate world and motivation to establish Georgia's preeminence in cleantech innovation.  Over the past year, he has led the GACIH initiative, as Managing Director, in fundraising, strategy setting, building foundational partnerships, and establishing our presence in the community.  Bernie Burgener, who led our organization through its first dozen years, will continue to help the team reach its objectives, as Sustainability Director, with a focus on applying sustainable practices throughout all our initiatives; he will remain on the organization’s Board of Directors. It was a blast dropping by LaunchVT yesterday to unpack the role of ESG for high-potential start-ups! LaunchVT, a division of the Lake Champlain Chamber, is the OG accelerator in our great little state of Vermont - with the first cohort being launched all the way back in 2013. 🤳🏽 Sneak peek into the Policy Roundtable for Built Environment Startups by Startup Coalition. Infusing a policy lens to the startups innovating in the UK to impact communities across the country and beyond, as fast as possible, because they offer solutions that are better for the planet 🌍 👨🏻💻 👩🏻💼 This roundtable was an opportunity for startups in the built environment to contribute to areas that need to be prioritised when there is an opportunity for the policy to change. 🏗 Building homes, using homes and retrofitting homes is a classic example of where there is a need for overhauling materials, processes and software to reduce their impact on the environment and its people. But how do we collectively accelerate change when swimming against the tide of standards and regulations that can’t recognise innovation? 💬 On the table for discussion were: how energy performance certificates (#EPCs) can work better for the end user and drive positive change, rebalancing the electrification journey, closing the performance gap on retrofits, transparent methodologies to share case studies, open data availability, incentives for landlords to reduce operational energy.
