Full credit to Jo Fyfe for getting our 78 bay EV charger car park resource consent approved last week. We think these types charger parks will become the new norm for comprehensive developments. The key convenience of an EV is being able to charge it where and when you park it. No special trips to a fuel / charging station. Just plug the EV in in a convenient location and specify the rate of charge based on your anticipated stay and energy requirements. Another convenience of destination charging. If you need a full charge in 30 minutes - use one of our high speed chargers. If you’re going to be parked for 6-8 hours, you are much better off (and your EV battery’s longevity will thank you as well!) charging at a lower speed, supplied at a much lower $/kwh rate. You may opt to not charge at all, or perhaps plug in and select to only receive charge if it’s being supplied at the lower (or FREE) billing rate. Making a special trip for even a fast charge can often be a pain. Sure, they have their place. But it’s not just the 30 minutes charging. It’s the “to and fro” to the facility as well. Then there’s having to rush back to the car when it’s fully charged (if you’ve left it), which in of itself can be very inconvenient.

“Mitsubishi #PHEVs approved for #bidirectionalcharging ” Carsales Staff - 24 May 2024 “#Pluginhybrid Mitsubishi Outlander and Eclipse Cross can now power your home and #grid – with a few caveats” “Mitsubishi has become the first auto brand in Australia to have its bi-directional charging hardware approved for commercial use, allowing owners of the Mitsubishi Outlander and Eclipse Cross PHEVs to use their cars to not only power electrical appliances but also homes and even the grid.” “However, there are several catches. First, the Japanese car-maker’s bi-directional charging technology has only been approved in South Australia, where Mitsubishi #PHEV owners will have to purchase and install a #bidirectionalcharger at a cost of about $10,000.” “The Australian-first follows a string of different #vehicletogrid (#V2G) trials around the country facilitated by JET Charge and other infrastructure providers seeking to progress #bidirectionalchargingtechnology “ https://lnkd.in/essmpDDj?
