Really exciting to see the incredible reviews coming out for The Substance, which premiered this week in competition at Cannes. The VFX department used the Dorothy system for 4D performance capture, which not only provides geometry but normal and displacement data for every single frame. We also did a day of prop scanning, all contributing to what sound like some really intense, gruesome scenes. It's great to work on something a little different and we're already planning an after hours trip to catch it at the cinema in all its gory glory. #thesubstance #Cannes2024 #vfx #visualeffects #3dscanning #performancecapture

A while ago I created a reaper script to randomize different FX parameters based on values in a range, similar to what you would see in game audio implementation. This script can help create a good idea of what pitch/volume variation might feel like in Wwise, or even help you find a happy little accident when hitting a road block in creating new sounds! The script is free to download at my repo! https://lnkd.in/e_2QcQtk

Been testing #ltxstudio, James Larkin Isy Imarni Build a movie, QUICKLY. Text to image to video, captions, sound effects. Story boarding, scene building, character creation. Easy to use, consistent vibe across scenes. Some limitations compared to other platforms.

The first work I did in the introductory lesson of the course on creating Cinematics in the Unreal Engine from JCenters. In this work, I used a scene with ready-made locations and characters, set the camera angle, set and adjusted the lights and special effects.

*WITH AUDIO* Took footage of a person watching his car, and hopped on to Nuke to make it look like it caught on fire. In addition, I added in smoke, debris, and flickering lights to make it glow in the dark. This time, I made my own version, editing the Lumitri Colors and adding background audio in Premiere Pro. #visualeffects #nuke #foundry #premierepro #videoediting

The process of building videogames involves the tricky balance of deciding whether to "build the game" or "build the tools for building the game." At this point, the outline for my game A Long Dark Night has about 30 scenes, 2000 dialogue lines, and countless quest triggers and progression events. I had to decide whether to implement these scenes using my existing RPG systems, or pause development to improve those systems. Really it was a no-brainer; my RPG systems were okay, but I knew a few key quality-of-life improvements could make the implementation process exponentially faster. The best part: through my use of packages and reusable code, my RPG systems are now better for ALL my games that use them. To see exactly how my RPG systems were improved, check out these 3 episodes of my devlog: Ep #29 - Dialogue System - https://lnkd.in/ebr8JWcr Ep #30 - Quest System - https://lnkd.in/efnYjGBS Ep #31 - Scene Management - https://lnkd.in/e4W9ScVE Lastly, my main pitfall is getting carried away. Sometimes I get addicted to optimizing my tools, but at some point, I just gotta sit down and build the damn game. Cheers :)

I decided to create a digital "hug" with my "scent" by uploading, henceforth, everything I've written (since 2000) in a series of videos that will "always" be there for my children. The first one is from 2003 (if I remember correctly) and it's called "Directly In Your Heart" (Ultrawide format) 😉 https://lnkd.in/dsFtuTjc
