Just finished reading The Motive by Patrick Lencioni (highly recommend it) in less than 24 hours. It introduced me to a very interesting concept: Being reward-centered vs. responsibility-centered Here’s what that means: Reward-Centered: You view the job or promotion as a reward. Imagine you’re a football player who just got drafted. You might think, “I’ve finally made it. After years of hard work, I’m being rewarded. Life’s about to get easier, I can’t wait to celebrate, buy a house, get a car…” Responsibility-Centered: You see the job or promotion as a responsibility. That same football player might think, “I can’t wait to get my new playbook and start preparing for the season. I need to prove my worth and avoid letting my team down. Time to find a place to live and start training hard…” When you view your job through a reward-centered lens, you expect it to be easy and enjoyable because you've earned it. Result: you work less and avoiding difficult tasks. In contrast, a responsibility-centered approach means recognising challenges, taking full responsibility, and being ready for hard work. Loved this concept and had to share. What do you think? PS. Again, great book! The Motive by Patrick Lencioni PPS. It's 90 pages, so less than 24 hours isn't that impressive haha

🏆 The Benefits of Friendly Competition: What We Learned from Our Team Event!🏆 Recently, our team got together for a day of friendly competition, and it taught us a lot about working together. Here's what we found out: 1️⃣ Stay Focused: When we're competing, we pay more attention and try harder. This helps us do better in both the competition and our regular work. 2️⃣ Be Friends: Even though we're competing, we still support each other. Cheering for our teammates and celebrating their wins makes us feel like a stronger team. 3️⃣ Learn and Grow: Competition pushes us to do our best, even when it's tough. When we win, it feels great, but even when we don't, we learn something new that helps us get better next time. 4️⃣ Feel Good: Competing is exciting! It makes us happy and boosts our energy. That positive feeling sticks around and makes our workdays better too. 5️⃣ Work Together: Through competition, we get to know each other better. We learn what we're good at and where we can help each other, making us a stronger team overall. Overall, our team event showed us that friendly competition isn't just about winning—it's about working together, having fun, and becoming better colleagues. The question of whether one would rather be right or happy is a complex one that can have many answers. Some people sacrifice time and effort to be correct, believing that making others wrong is the way to be right. This can lead to feelings of dislike and undermine teamwork. Those who need to be right also avoid taking risks, and limiting creativity and ingenuity. On the other hand, those who would rather be happy don't care much about their intelligence and recognize that everyone is on a learning curve. They understand that the best way to help each other grow is to stop competing and start cooperating. Life is about helping each other see and understand each other, and working with someone towards a goal can lead to greater happiness. Each person has the choice to decide how they spend their energies and whether they are willing to give and accept help. They can choose whether they are going to be right or happy, and sometimes they can do both. However, if they had to choose just one, which would it be?

Read on to learn more about Joe: 👏🎉 🚚 How long have you been with Bay & Bay? • I’ve been with Bay & Bay Since January 2021, so over 3 years. 🚚 What drew you to the transportation industry? • The fast paced environment that keeps me engaged in my work all-day. It can be stressful at times, but I’ve learned I operate well on a time crunch. 🚚 What position did you start in, and how did that help you to get to where you are now? • I started out as a CSA. I was promoted to CSA2, and then to CSR two years ago. My time as a CSA helped me learn the basics, which I’ve been able to build on as a CSR. I had great managers when I started, and I learned a lot shadowing more experienced team members. 🚚 What do you enjoy most about Bay & Bay? • The company culture. 🚚 What do you like to do outside of work? • Golf, working out, hanging with friends, and video games.
