Hi Folks, If you're building, owning, or operating solar and storage projects but have not yet seen our FFS (Field Failure Series), it's worth a peek. The latest installment came out today and this is one I know I've seen in the field many times. Split loom seems like such a great and easy solution to protect conductors from sharp racking edges and such... it even looks good at project closeout. However, after a short time it can degrade and those conductors are again exposed to damage (and maybe the split loom is still intact enough you can't see it at a quick visual inspection so it may do more harm than good). We're on a quest to build better solar projects that are safe and effective for decades to come. Won't you join us?

Currents and Eddies: Tidal changes can cause rapid changes in currents, especially at the turn of the tide. Hydrodynamic Effects: Passing ships can generate hydrodynamic effects, including wave trains and wave focusing, which can impact offshore platforms. Tidal changes can influence the intensity and frequency of these effects, potentially affecting the platform's stability and safety. It is important for offshore platform operators to consider tidal variations and their potential impacts during the design, construction, and operation phases. Proper mooring systems, structural design, and monitoring of tidal conditions are essential to ensure the safety and integrity of offshore platforms. Looking at the damage sustained to the Wind of Hope I find it hard to believe that the MCA and classification society would let the vessel depart from Grimsby for repairs when there are local shipyards able to carry out such. The MCA state “As part of its commitment to enhancing maritime safety, the MCA conduct rigourous inspections to ensure that vessels comply with international safety standards. These measures are crucial for preventing potential accidents and environmental hazards, thus maintaining the integrity of marine operations within UK waters “. How can this vessel be currently halfway across the north sea without even having temporary repairs carried out? Another prime example of how British companies are losing out on work within the UK offshore wind industry, totally unfair and unjustified.
