In 2024, the KFC Foundation will award $10,000 to up to 100 nonprofits "to make their Kentucky Fried Wishes come true." From the Foundation's website: > "We’re looking for tangible, actionable projects that are feasible to accomplish with the $10,000 grant and will make an immediate impact in your community." > If you have a larger project (i.e., 100-mile trail restoration), break it down into something that $10,000 could cover in full (i.e., 10-mile trail restoration out of our 100-mile project). If additional funding is needed, detailed plans for securing additional resources must be provided in the Project Budget.

This is a big deal for California nonprofits! If you have ever secured a government contract, then you know that the financial desert between starting the contract and reimbursement can be perilous and not possible for many smaller nonprofit organizations. I am hopeful that this policy change will shift the circumstances of who gets to play in the government contract sandbox - to be more inclusive of smaller organizations and those that are typically underrepresented in contracting. Thank you to CalNonprofits and the California Contracting Coalition, including Inland Empire Community Collaborative for your advocacy! #nonprofit #policy
Thrilled to join with all our nonprofit partners and supporters in applauding the signing of AB 590 by Governor Newsom!! CA Assemblymember Gregg Hart's bill means nonprofits contracting with the state can now receive advanced payments to cover upfront costs. It's a huge step for our sector and opens the doors to so many more organizations in communities that most need access to those state dollars.
