November is American Diabetes Awareness Month and we are featuring a research study that explores the implications of diabetes on female reproductive health. This blog post highlights the role of insulin beyond the regulation of blood sugar and discusses the complex relationship between diabetes, menstrual irregularities, and disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Given the large number of women affected by diabetes and its serious effects on the female reproductive system, the use of FABMs to monitor the effects of diabetes on a woman’s cycle could have a positive impact on future reproductive and metabolic outcomes. Follow the link to the blog and learn more about the applications of fertility awareness-based methods (FABMs) as a cost-effective means to facilitate earlier diagnosis and better women’s healthcare. #FACTSaboutFertility #FertilityFACTS #JusttheFACTS #FACTSblog #DiabtesAwarenessMonth #InsulinResistance #PCOS #ReproductiveHealth #RestorativeFertility #PCOSandFABMS #ChartingwithPCOS

Symptoms for both conditions can include pelvic pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, and fertility issues. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS, is a real epidemic these days, affecting women of the reproductive age. And with each being different from another in terms of signs and symptoms. It does not only affect fertility but overall appearance as well. If a woman fulfills all 3 or any 2 of these criteria, then we term them as PCOS. One: Polycystic ovaries on ultrasound. Two: Excess androgens or male hormones with symptoms like acne and excessive hair growth. Three: is delayed ovulation or menstrual cycles. Unfortunately, PCOS cannot be cured but can be reversed to reduce the intensity of the symptoms improving fertility and menstrual cycle. The conventional treatment for PCOS is having insulin-lowering drugs and oral contraceptive pills.
