The Zoo is working to protect these apes in the wild through its long-standing support of the Kinabatangan Orangutan Conservation Programme, which studies orangutans and their habitat in Malaysian Borneo, recreates forest corridors, and employs local people to address human-wildlife conflict and create opportunities for sustainable livelihood.
